ps. whaddup with these serious topics as of late? :j
Good question, I think everyone woke up on the srs side of bed this morning. Oh well, makes for some interesting discussion at least.
And from tf2street himself:
I want to make the TF2 community reflect upon itself. The day this happens is the day you find out my name, find out the purpose of this all, and the day TF2 is saved.
indeed.

TF2 = a game
a game = fun
Getting paid for something you like to do only makes you wanna do it less… learn that from a student psychology…
If you can’t find the fun in it anymore you better just quit and get a job if you want money…
nolifers spotted!!!!
that’s complete bullshit contra. everybody looks for ways to get paid to do whatever they enjoy

Ive seen the same happen with me. Back years ago when I was about 12 or so, I probably would have fixed computers for free because I enjoyed it. But now I’ve been making money at it (turning 17 soon) it feels like a chore, even if someone is paying me £40 for it.

ahah funny man
take for example you like making drawings (just for fun and you rlly like it) if somebody pays you for it you will do it because you’re payed for it and the only reason you do it then is for the money. You will lose all of the pleasure towards it and it will become less fun to do.
I don’t need money to play a fucking game if you realy want to make money out of a game, here http://store.steampowered.com/app/240/
and turn in to to shit players who think that they can win something and don’t enjoy the game.
come back to me with better arguments then “bullshit”.

This is the truth, 99% of self employed people are trying to make money doing something they enjoy.
However I doubt anyone can make regular real money out of TF2/CSS/COD4 etc, untill esports are picked up by a major company, and will operate under a pay to play (similar to online poker)

I find it more enjoyable when there’s a prize fund up for grabs, all of the best games of TF2 I have played in/enjoyed the most, are the LAN finals for money.
The games in terms of skill are much higher when there’s money on it, as people are motivated to play better and the game is more competitive, and the feeling that mistakes are much worse because there’s money on it aswell as the added pressure makes it much more tense and fun.
Take example playing poker with your mates, when you play for no money, no one really cares or can be bothered and everyone gets bored. When there’s money on it everyone plays properly and it’s more enjoyable, that’s why gambling is so addictive.
I also notice that most of the people here saying they play just for fun and that money isn’t a factor are the people who have never played with money on the line.

+1
If there’s something on the line, the game _just_ is more fun. In a league/lan finals or semis w/e there is more energy in the players, everyone gives 110% and so on. Playing on a lan is like having wild monkey sex. After that playing pcws “just for fun” is just like getting a handjob from a hairy male midget.
(The “we dont care about etf2l” thing means mainly that if a team has to prioritize between etf2l and say EMS, the Etf2l game is in that case secondary)

But do you play ONLY for the money? That is the question. Of course it’s more exciting to play for money, its more on stake. But if you only play a “GAME” for the money then there is something wrong…
People who say that havn’t been to lan. And it’s not so much “FOR the money” as “to get SOMETHING out of it”.
i’m in doubt anyone, besides numlocked, actually plans to make a living out of playing videogames.

ive prolly won more with tf2 then you will ever in your entire life…
AND
The thing you guys call fun on lan cause there is a price involved. Its just you being horny for the HS you’re going to win (for the 6th time) It has nothing to do with you playing the game, you’re just getting excited for the price not for playing the game…
