Don’t bother with win7/vista I’ve just reinstalled xp after using win7/vista for about 2-3 months and all it did was frustrate me re tf2 it never felt right, it always felt laggy ie ping and also pc lag. reinstalled xp last night and everything is perfect :p
Bullshit. I think you’re just to conservative and dont want anything different than XP so your mind just trick you into believing something is wrong, ala placebo effect.
Anyways, I dont understand whats wrong with your acceleration. I just unchecked that “increase pointer precision” (or something like that) on control panel and I’m not getting any accel. Maybe that’s becouse I use w7 Ultimate?
P.S.: I really dont get any acceleration. Tried it a million times both in and out of game. No accel whatsoever.
I had no problems with Mouse accel, no problem with drivers. Don’t say I’m bullshitting when I KNOW it was different on vista/w7 to what it is on xp seriously. I didn’t like playing with it I got constant lag on net_graph 3 with win7 which I don’t with xp just google it and you’ll see alot of other people had the same problem and there was no fix. I think saiboat was one of them.

As I said earlier, I was a bit too rough and quick to make qonclusions. I did so, becouse there’s a minority (???) that are getting such lag/accel/whatever so I thought it’s becouse you cant deal with changing OS or something of that nature.
Vista is a pile of dogshit if you’re using it over xp/w7 then you’re just stupid.
I don’t care if you didn’t have any problems, I did hence why I changed.
I’m not some kind of techie newb either I know my arse from my elbow build my own computers etc I tried multiple drivers made no difference, it was nothing gfx based I ran the game in dx8 and 9 and both were the same it’s most probably something to do with either Ethernet settings/drivers.
I couldn’t find a solution and I didn’t like vista (memwhore) so I reinstalled XP. It was only a problem in TF2 every other game was fine and I had no stability issues at all with w7 didn’t crash even once.

I had this strange “mouse lag” with Win7 X64 too. Playing just felt sluggish and inaccurate. I was able to fix it by changing to a full screen resolution.
I had endless problems with vista and went back to xp which solved them. I will got to 7 at some point but I’ll go for stability over performance until at least the first service pack.
Does any one know when this is roughly predicted for?
I feel a need to clear this up.
I’ve been running XP, the 7 RC 32 AND 64 bit at the same damn time over about 3 different computers, since the RC came out.
All my windows 7 rigs, have seen between a 10 and 20 fps performance increase.
Those PCs which are on wireless, experience occasional “warping”, which you can’t do a thing about if you’re on wireless, for obvious reasons, packet loss and such. (A shame I dont have any money to buy powerline stuff, nor can be arsed with routing a massive ethernet from my router).
I personally can see no difference in mouse accel in XP and 7, turned off “enhance pointer precision” in the control panels, and had a play, in and out of game, mouse feels exactly the same to me, so I’m guessing this is just a reverse “placebo effect” people are getting, from being so used to XP, in which case, just get used to it!
If anything, it seems like it’s actually ON in XP compared to 7, and I notice this especially on my box with the Roccat Kone wired up to it :P (Yes I have applied the bazillion “no accel fixes” you see around). And to be honest, I don’t believe it that you NEED it off to play better anyway, if you get used to it you’ll play just as well as the next guy, it all depends on what you’re used to.
I suppose you could say it all comes down to opinion, but I wouldn’t, IMO, 7 > XP > Vista, full stop.
Obviously SOME people WILL have issues, but that was the case with XP as well, always has been and always will be for computers.
win 7 cant have performance increase with dx9 games that run windowed… xp simply doesnt use any resources while win7/vista has things called aero and gadgets that uses cpu + ram + vga…
u gota have some kind of fail test there, if cpu limited application has perf increase
btw lol at the “i got wireless so must be lagging” comments… i got cheapest wireless router i could get and it still has nothing above 2ms ping increase, 0 loss and choke…

Of course Windows 7 can have increased performance in dx9 compared to XP… Windows 7 has much better memory management and does a great job prioritising processes that need extra performance, like games. The driver API is greatly improved, and much more.
That said w7 will not necessarily play games better than XP, but it’s very likely that it will with newer games. Any new OS is going to be a little bit more demanding than the predecessor. When XP came out Windows 98 ran games better, but no one in their right mind would say Windows 98 is better right now. We’re currently in the same sitation.
A lot of the Vista hate is pretty dumb as well, Vista at release was pretty bad but it’s really a completely different OS with SP1

iQue pretty much nailed. Even tho atm I’d put Vista over XP any day.
Got the same dude. Dont mind testing out 400000 drivers, since microsoft wont release updates for thoose things, then I guess the community has to do it.
open source windwos 7 ftw
