lol @ people saying the drivers are pretty stable.

Try reading the nvidia forums, 1000 posts about BSOD every 5 minutes. I had to use 185.xx drivers for my windows to even boot, cos I’d just get a corrupted registry when I installed 192.xx drivers.

And probably 999 of those posts are by 12y/o’s who have no idea a driver is. :P

I’ve been on Windows 7 beta and later RC1 (32bit) and have had 0 problem with drivers, fps or compatibility in general.

Last 3 posts said everything. If you have problems with drivers, seriously, learn to use a computer. The only driver related problem I had was my sound card drivers (the sound was working great, I just wanted bitrate sliders) and the problem was me: I downloaded the wrong ones.

I just stick with XP for now.

I don’t think my ‘lag’ problem has anything to do with mouse acc. anyway :) cuz the whole gameplay is different compared to XP (caused by this ‘lag’).

get your facts right before throwing out those accusations exm.

How can installing a driver and getting a BSOD before installation finishes and thus, breaking windows be “now knowing how to handle a computer”? specially if there’s nothing else installed…

This is not intended as a flame post, if you see it that way, well I’m sorry. I just get the feeling you’re pulling things out of your arse without knowing what you’re talking about :>

Yeah, I’ve might have been a bit too harsh. It’s just that me and a couple of my friends tried w7 and none of us has any problems with it and I find it quite strange that you get BSOD or some alien-like lag. Anyways, just ignore my recent post. I guess if you know how to install w7, you should know how to install drivers too.

Windows 7 is over 4 million lines of code. It is not as simple as:

if($DriversInstalled == TRUE) {
run_tf2_properly() } else {
dont_run_tf2_properly()
}

Honestly, the sheer ignorance of the internet never ceases to amuse. :)

Could you please specify the lag for me ? It’s still a bit vague for me now.. what lag is it exactly ?

And I’ve been on the same situation with 64bit, from an early beta release untill the RC whatever build it is now I’ve had 0 problems with drivers, fps or compatibility. Well I had 1 with my soundcard but after googeling it my problem was solved.

@People who are noobing with drivers all the time: GET http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/ ( drivermax ).

I have it 2, and I’m lazy so I’m a pro member on drivermax which makes you very very lazy but efficient on the same time.. Costing me 2 euro a month though :( but makes me very lazy so happy nooby me.

it’s vague to specify lol :) it’s like everyone has no lag but you are the only one with lag and can’t hit shit. sometimes people tent to warp a bit though. it’s very weird to explain m8.

Are you sure it’s not that placebo effect I mentioned before? Your mind can trick you into a lot of things, believe me.

what’s your average FPS (on a timedemo, say) and what is your screen’s refresh rate?

If people would post less crap and actually ask some sensible questions, perhaps we could help this guy instead of turning the thread into a pissing-contest.

If you didn’t notice, he wrote “only in tf2” — this leaves drivers and the platform itself out of the race. TF2 has a huge set of fucking issues itself, mostly due to Valve porting an OpenGL Quake1.5-engine to DirectX and slapping on the label “source”. Expecting everything to work “fine” for everyone after this is just wishful thinking.

To me, however, this sounds like vsync turned on. This could either be:

a) on in the game
b) forced on in the drivers
c) forced on by running in windowed/noborder mode in w7 and having aero enabled (automatically forces vsync on).

These are all known problems that will cause the kind of “lag” you are describing.

TF2 is running _excellent_ *tap like mr.burns* here on win7/i7/4870×2. It ran just as fine when I had the 8800GT and e6600 on win7.

most of those lines are just to make it look pretty though, to be fair

Yes, because everybody knows you’d put the inline-function within the IF-statement, not store it in a memory-leaking variables — not the mention the lack of semi-colons makes it all look weird. :S
