As title says what spec would be need to run tf2 in one window and web page in the other . If you have a dual set-up what spec and fps you getting with tf2

Currently using –

1x 22″, 1x 17″
Q6600GT (quad) @ 2.4ghz
9600GT w/ 1gb Vram
4gb ddr2 ram

Pre-Hat update, ran TF2 at solid 75fps (never ever dropped in 6v6) in windowed, -noborder mode. Post, it’s variable between 50 and 75. Ordering a HD4890 soonish, so I’ll let you know how that goes.

22″ and 19″.

TF2 in windowed mode with m0res highhigh fps config = always over 100 even in highlander (wooo)

Also on windows7 if that makes any difference.

You don’t need an utterly amazing spec, try running TF2 in windowed mode without a border

(launch options:
-w 1680 -h 1050 -window -noborder

Set the w and h to your resolution and if you can get over 100 FPS always you should be able to get it with 2 monitors but im guessing some older GFX cards wont support dual monitors aswell as the newer cards, but you dont need THAT much to run two monitors.

was looking at loftys spec very simalar to mine. if anything mine should be a little better so there may be a problem somewhere

Ah okay, well your problem is your graphics card, it probably doesnt fully support dual monitors. Maybe upgrade?

Thats a good site to compare etc (prices are usually a lil high though but i trust them so I buy off them :))

Tbh for a good graphics card you should be spending a lil over £100 but it is possible to get some really good deals. Also if your motherboard supports it it might be a good idea to go crossfire / (or if your a NVidia kind a guy) go with two of their cards (they probably call it some funky crap to but i dunno ^^)

If you write up a budget and what you need (if your willing to upgrade) I’m willing to bet we have some lovely helpful tech guys in this forum.

Every (more or less recent) graphics card supports dual monitor.
The problem with the 9500GT is that it’s at the low end, hence the performance isn’t very good.

I wouldn’t go for CF or SLI apart from a few cases where you actually do get extra performance that’s the money your spending. Dual GPU don’t scale all that well, although it seems like it’s becoming better. A nice example is the HD4770, in CF it has the same performance of the HD4890, but at the time of it’s release (no idea about prices right now) it was cheaper to uy 2 of those than a single HD4890.

just make sure vlc isn’t running

Then I’ve got a 22″ widescreen LCD that I use for overall purposes, and a 17″ CRT that I use for vent, IRC, sidebar clock and other stuff while I play. I get no FPS drop/increase if I run with one monitor and the same stuff in the background. :)

i have a GT8800 512mb not GT 8000 as i origanly put will look at the rest again

Should be able to run the game np. With like 50-100fps with everything high. Drivers?
