I have the feeling that now rockets lift heavies higher than before. Anyone noticed this too?
I doubt that “we’re lucky becouse we get free updates so stop whining” argument is valid, becouse almost ALL online games (mostly mmorpgers) get constant free updates. And L4D should be an example of “you’re so unlucky” and not vice versa actually…

You mean all those many many subscription mmo’s oui?

When i played a bit of turris it felt alot easier :S like people bounce alot easier and the size of the splash damage felt bigger :s maybe im just tripping :D
if u wanna be emooo and look at it the other way around, if they had just stoped updating this game with stuff (mostly for the good ofc) tftrue would prolly been our saviour, then we could have implimented all the stuff we wanted like… NOW! :P
but then again, no one would prolly play this game

No, there is still some difference than before the update. Rocketjumps are bigger and enemies fly further away. (maybe bigger splash damage dunno)
I guess it will never be the seem again, seems there are to many variables :s

Well for one TFTrue was unable to remove first blood ;) I’m sure there are tons more stuff that can only be done by Valve that we want
ibut then again, no one would prolly play this game
Thats why they do those updates. Not becouse valve loves or that we’re lucky. It’s all about profit.
@HTE
No. Those TOTALY free mmorpgers and even fps’. Those that you dont even need to buy (though they have nasty case of “Item shops”…).

F2 explained to me that the rocket jumping etc is part of the physics and not part of the game code so if they change something it has an effect on something else, so thats what caused the rjs to f up when they messed with the sjs etc
Thought double posts where fixed?
my guess is valve had no idea TF2 would become a competitive game to the extent it has, but maybe this will change now with the beta, albeit a year and a half too late.

The difference you are missing is that valve does not gain any direct money by adding content for us since we already paid for the game when we bought it. That in sharp contrast to mmorpg’s where money can be made from those players by means of subscription fee’s or mini-transactions(item shops).
One of the reasons valve is releasing update’s is to provide a service that people appreciate. If people like the services they will be more likely to buy games from valve and use valve’s products like steam. Piracy is also reduced if people know a game will be supported with updates.
Sure, they dont get _DIRECT_ income. But everytime and update is released, more people buy it, people buy the game after having to wait a month for non-steam server updates and probably the most important thing: that is THE best advertising you could get (imo). If they update their games, people will buy other games made by valve, becouse they can be sure it WILL get updated (I heard that L4D will get updates, so lets not talk about it).
Also, by keeping players playing TF2, they make Steam more popular as a product (shop), so more companies want to get their games and adds on steam which also get them profit (idk, just guessing…)
