I currently live in the US, but my dad has gotten orders (Air force) to goto Germany (Mannheim, more specifically). Now I have a question, are hardware prices cheaper over in Europe? I’m planning on building a new system for myself, but I am a little short on cash… Any help is appreciated ;)
PS. What kind of ping would I be getting from Mannheim to most servers out in Europe?
remember the voltage is different… http://www.german-way.com/electric.html
dunno about the prices, maybe check alternate.de and compare prices
Most PSU’s can have both 110 and 220-240 iirc? As for the hardware in the PC itself: all works ;).
But the states are cheaper I’d reckon, esp with the high euro (compared to the dollar)
I had heard of something that you can plug into the wall, then plug your american made devices into that and it compensates for the different voltages. Happen to know what that is? Or maybe a link to one?

LOL called an adaptor mate.
germany’s pretty much in the centre of all the action, your ping will be fine
When built my latest pc about 8 months ago it would of literally been 50% cheaper to do it in usa :(. Could of got some friends over there to buy parts and send em over but with shipping and hastle wasnt rearly worth it from my pov.
How’s the internet down near Mannheim?
If you dont have to pay import taxes, buy in the US.
Without shipping and not careing for gurantee it would be cheaper for us europeans to buy in the US.
Mannheim is a “big” place. No idea how good the base or the surrounding area is connected, but i guess you will get at least a 2 MBit with fastpasth. Probably 25MBit VDSL.
Ping to the UK will be around 30-40 ms max. To the US eastcoast about 100-120ms.
dw mate get yr rig sorted in the us and get an adapter (or if yr saying long get an eu power supply).
Pings to servers that matter will be good. Your only worry should be that the eu tf2 community are all immature kiddies who dont like turtles but you’ll get used to that :D
Invest in learning to play heavy as its all us euros do.
Haha, thanks for the tips! We only plan on being there for 3 years, after those 3 years we’re going to get a 1 year extension so my parents can retire in the states (So they can have job interviews / a house ready for retirement).
Alright, so I guess i’ll get the computer here. Thanks again
