Any easy ways to avoid the ddos?

I know this isn’t strictly ETF2L but any way. It seems any top TF2 match that is widely advertised outside of just the normal european tf2 quarters gets attacked.
Speculation on who it is pretty pointless, but is there any easy ways to avoid it?
Should it be common practice now for every one on the match server to sign out of steam friends.
Is it possible to run stv relays with out revealing the ip of the actual match server?
I know when I try to watch the stv relay at blank.tv.de (I think) I have to manually enter “connect xxxx” into the console because double clicking via the server browser doesn’t work. I was told this was some sort of anti ddos thing?
I also remember last season TCM (the ex wotr tcm) had some server like this set up? Could we get a “safe” match server to play important, popular games?
Just some suggestions/conversation starters. Its frustrating for every one having good matches like last night (which don’t come along that often) having to be played behind closed doors.
zBlock has nothing to do with a Distributed Denial of Service attack.
On topic:
The matches will have to be played behind “closed doors” as you put it. This has always been a problem in almost all games of this kind (going back all the way to QWTF and QWDM), due to the nature of certain people having chemical imbalances in their brain.
I’m not entirely sure what they feel the gain is, but safe to say, they are damaged on many levels and we all should feel pity.
I envision people like ***** and *** would be people in the TF2 community on our side of the pond doing retarded shit like this, if they only had the knowledge and tools. Thankfully, people with proper skills seems to be rather developed and are helping out rather than destroying for other people enjoying a similar hobby as they do.
Thank god.
Is there any reason to drop names in your reply? You’re an admin, start acting like one ffs. It shouldn’t matter the abuse or comments they’ve made towards you (although there is no excuse for them), you’re in a position of “power” and need to act in appropriate manner.
I’m in no postition of power. I’m a slave to the happy, friendly people who enjoy playing in the league. I donate experience I have from professional line of work and collected experience from previous incarnations of this league. If anything, the people playing in the league has the “power”. By being friendly, thankful and all around nice everytime they ask for help, advice or any other personal dealings with people directly, they keep this awesome hobby of ours alive.
… As in the contrast to people who DDoS, flame and generally try and be rude T*ATS for what ever twisted reason they have, leaving most people feeling disgusted by the whole scene.
You may feel the mentioning of above two names was a bit rude, insensitive and uncool. That is your right. I did not consider this flame at all, rather common knowledge. Perhaps that was a bit short-sighted. I have little to no “respect” for people misbehaving, no matter what division, game — or anything else that constitutes as a grouping of individuals, come from. Why NOT point them out so people know to avoid them?
Anyway; To accomodate your request, the names has been removed and you have my apologies — please, let us leave it at that.

“To accomodate your request”
lol try to sound more condescending? No doubt your reply to this will be somthing in the same vein :p.
And if you “Envision” them to do it, dosn’t mean they actually have done it so indeed censor their names or its just pointless flamebait.
If it gets common just play the game behind closed doors and then relay the stream an hour later, match of the day style :p.
fuck off gryzor you retarded spastic, learn2admin without buying yourself out of every stupid thing you do in this community, like, for example, opening your mouth.
Nobody likes you and even though you’re an admin, i speak entirely on the community when i say.. you’d be better off doing your work behind closed doors where nobody has to interact with a dribbling idiot like you.
Complete waste of space and i thank god every day that i am better than you in every possible way, although i also thank him that he left me with the ability to thoroughly dislike the less fortunate when it comes to inbreds such as yourself, because you’re an absolute cock.
lawl. 3 and 5 letters as name, i thought of the same ones, ziggy…
:P
edit: how often are you gonna edit it, ziggy ffs?

that’s gonna be fun.
oh, and on topic: only thing most of community needs is stv demos, there aren’t many people, who want to watch constantly lagging live translation when they can easily watch the game later
Can’t the server and stv be hosted at two different places? Doesn’t that make the ip’s different?
Endo,
Even though stv chat can be annoying at times, for the most part its fun in my opinion. If there was some way of protecting the match server and still allowing a relay that would the best thing.
So going back to my original post – is any one familiar with what http://www.blank-tv.de/ use that only allows you to connect through the console not the server browser.
Or is this unrelated?
An anti ddos plugin was released some time ago. There is no proof that it actually works though:

Is it possible to stop such attacks
with switching to tv_enable 0
and just let the ptv and the other guys do coverage?
Ofc a lot will cry, but I just want do know if it will stop then.

It’s not very hard to find the right server with the server browser or one of those netsite server trackers.
