Why do we still use vent on pickups?

Mumble has worked well in Finnish pickups for a year or so. Picking teams is fairly easy as most ppl do know who a player is, you can also ask for the classes. Can’t say there are too many guys in invite pickup either so should work fairly easily there too. Also on mpuk2 where the comms should be the priority compared to mpuk1 there should be no reason to not use mumble there as it will improve the quality of the game with less latency for a FACT (No other reason that multiplay is just providing the vent, maybe remove mpuk2 from the mpuk consept?-)). :P
where would we get enough servers to fuel pickup2?
Mpuk2 doesn’t seem that active nowadays that it would need many, but then again it’s the summer so it might be problematic in the fall when schools start and stuff. It was not the best option it, but when thinking of why having a mpuk2 in the first place mumble would be the better fit. Also most people in mpuk2 are clanned ppl so they are most likely familiar with the program already too, which is not the case in mpuk1 as vent is newbiefriendly.
i think the bot just finds a server not being used by pug1 and arranges it that way, dont think its even endorsed by mpuk
idk if anyone has mentioned it, but vent *does* have an overlay. There’s an overlay tab in options.
It’s also got a much nicer/better bind system.
These are 2 features I’d never use for pcws, but are really really handy for playing pickups.
vent for pickups, mumble for pcw.

How can those 2 features themselves put vent over mumble in pugs as mumble has them too?-) A really easy and effective bind system for mute/mute off and stuff and an easy to setup overlay too?-)
Within the last two weeks I was playing a pcw, and suddenly two players’ Mumble crashed which also made their TF2 minimize. There is no doubt that Mumble is still more unstable than Ventrilo.
Indeed. I use mumble for pcws and have done for a while, though sometimes my computers stutters horribly – often it’s due to a mumble crash. After that, I have to tab out to restart. Even if it doesn’t crash, to reconnect into the same channel I have to tab out (unless there’s actually a way noone has told me to reconnect to the same channel?). Vent, however, automatically reconnects to the same channel so there’s no need for me to tab out. Tabbing out takes longer than it takes for me to spawn etc. and as a medic, it’s fairly important time is not wasted (in building uber and healing).
I’m not fussed either way in a sense. Both do the same job and I generally don’t have quality problems with either, just mumble could be a bit more stable.
