Just a quick note about the QuadV coverage over the weekend – thought it was very well done and got to see lots of matches – that was ace :)

Covrage was good t’was nice to be shoutcasted by the boyz, even if i was severly hungover ¬_¬.

Communication was a bit all over the place, probably with Amon leaving earlier though messed things up a little. It was hard to tell due to the times being messed up who was playing where and when, could i use that computer, could i not? etc, and what time we’d start in the morning, maybe a big whiteboard or somthing in the hall just so you could write notes/messages down to all teams that were going in and out and you didnt need a computer to read it.

Tournaments were good, but for a community lan there wasn’t many mix/community teams so we and fader just got bumraped, the other teams were all div1/2 standard, so hopefully more shitter/mix clans next time.

Schedule was ok but again it worked it practice, few problems but we got there in the end :>

WZZRD was nicely situated near accmodation, the place is clean and tidy and the outside bit was good to chill, however it was annoying being told you cant use any of the empty computers despite paying 50 euros it would have been nice just to play a few pcws/other games. Also no shops or anything within walking distance . The plus was though that you can play on those wii/ps3 games though which was good fun.

Needs more shitter/fun clans as its a community lan not a massive prize pot event, so perhaps some promotion to get smaller clans/mixes involved as a forum for posting if you can mix didnt seem to work until some people took the initative.

Will post some pics and videos up soon!
Good work Duncan may TCL II be bigger and better.

– Coverage
Was really good. No points there

– Communication (before AND during the event)
It wasnt clear to us that we have to relegation match on saturday :D Telling the teams after a match ends which match is the next would be great.

– Tournaments
Maybe a random fun or mixed cup on the first evening to getting into play there

– Schedule
It would be great to let the ppl play as much matches as possible while sitting on one spot cause switching pc takes a lot of time till mumble / configs / sensitivity are working

– WZZRD itself, as a venue
Tapleys point about using them for fun playing and installing tf2 before everybody arives

– Anything else!
Photos of each team before the tournament starts so you have at least all players on photos

But these points didnt change the fact that it was a great weekend! We had a lot of fun and i for myself wouldnt miss TCL2 :>

I think part of the communication issue, was that clans knew they had a game coming up, but didn’t know how delayed it was. They would arrive at their match time only to sit around for 2 hours until they were finally called to play.

Maybe some sort of notice board where the schedule can be updated on the fly would be a good idea. Teams could see what matches were being played now, and what matches would be played after (with an estimated time).

*Don’t mean an e-noticeboard, just like, a big sheet of paper, chalk board or something similar that can quickly be edited and seen by anyone walking around the venue.

Yep I agree with the other feedbacks. An announcement board would have been handy and some fun turneys would have been great but yeah TF2 wasn’t installed from the beginning on and that took some time :P The time we had to wait for our matches wasn’t bad though… getting known to each other, taking advantage of dutch laws etc. etc.
To sum it up I’ll quote you dunc:”FUKKEN AWSUM” ;D

Go for TCL2!

yeah tapley got it down.

overall though it was a blast and i’m glad it went ahead, good job to all the organisers and players that turned up to make it happen.

reCon

it was great but we need next time a notice board with a cup tree and the time for the matches!

– Coverage
Coverage was good. Quadv, resupply.eu, tfportal and mytf should be enough :) Waiting for pics and stuff to come online…

– Communication (before AND during the event)
Agree with tapley and dudes on the whiteboard thingy. People would have had time to go shopping or take a manicure between the games if they had known how long it takes.

– Tournaments
Some fun cup would have been nice maybe. Dunno how it woulf fit the timetable though.

-Anything else
The venue was good and near the hotels. Still can’t stop thinking would it be good to have next TCL in some other country which has bigger clan base (england, germany, finland…).

I agree with everyone else pretty much.

Hard to know when to play most of the time (whiteboard ftw) since the only place to check was on the internet and well – if you weren’t already playing you didn’t get to use a computer.

The coverage of the matches was very nice.

WZZRD might not have been the best of places I guess, with not beeing able to play at all on friday and first game delayed hours on saturday, and slow computers that could hardly coop with TF2 – The beer was nice tho :) The location kinda sucked with no shops nearby and no cheap place to eat.

Besides from that it was a blast :D

Considering the organization was pretty much 2-man team and during the tourney itself only one man army you did a VERY good job dunc, but I know you know that already so no point in going further down that lane.

WZZRD itself was kinda fail as you did tell me when we were talking aswell, not planning in advance etc is just bleh. The place itself was nice and all but they could have sorted out all stuff with comps in advance…

Lastly: next time you should consider trying to get a big screen for specing at the other side of the place (where there were only chairs and tables). This to make it easier to spec (and drink at the same time) and also possible to add the schedule there so people can easier see when their game is.

The wait for Rotary Sex Pirates for 2 hours cause they had went home wasnt really awesome.. Good enough the game was! :D

All in all: Amon and Dunc, wp! Next time don’t ragequit dunc… ;)

Well to solve location issues for some people, 2 whiteboards could be a decent solution for a future event.

1st whiteboard would be an admin board. Only showing relevent information about matches, changes in schedule etc..

2nd board could be a community board where players can write anything on it, such as ‘Is anyone going to McDonalds?’, ‘Need supermarket run, pm me!’, ‘need merc for 15cet’ etc… Myself and Beta had a car with us so would have been able to go on a shopping run if people needed supplies (asuming we were going to the supermarket).

I’ll write something about my views of the event in the near future, just having a lazy day ;p

Yeah I totally agree about a “whiteboard” solution. Everything WAS on the website but as a few of you said, it’s kinda hard to check a website when you’re not at a PC… :D

Hard to know when to play most of the time (whiteboard ftw) since the only place to check was on the internet and well – if you weren’t already playing you didn’t get to use a computer.

The problem with this is that nobody – including myself – had any idea how long it would actually take for the games to get underway. Sometimes whole teams had their PCs setup in 15 minutes, sometimes it literally took an hour. There were a couple of times when players had disappeared or hadn’t even woken up and therefore had to be fetched (*cough* appe).

The swapping and changing was just really pretty annoying from an organisational POV as I was rarely able to accurately say “yeah, sure, 30mins and you’re playing”, the best I could manage was “yeah, you’re straight on after this game”.

I really do apologise to the Rotary Sex Pirates, they got the shit end of the stick on Saturday evening. When you walked past me to “get your equipment”, I thought you meant you were getting it from the car or something – not your hotel! I’m really sorry about that.

Please carry on with the feedback, positive or negative, this was a huge learning experience for me and if we organise another one it’ll be this kind of thread which will help to make it even better.

+1 for the whiteboard for the schedules. Could have been much easier to estimate the free time if the schedule had been available offline. Of course there will be delays, but it’s probably easier to say that there’s 2 hours break if there are three matches before our one is supposed to start.

The WZZRD as a LAN place probably brought some challenges for scheduling the matches as we had to swap the computers for about every match. Sometimes it took really long time to get everything working and sometimes everything worked out of the box. Changing mumble and keyboard to german didn’t speed up much to get it configured properly for the ones not speaking german. The good side with WZZRD was the bar!

Some kind of store to buy supplies would have been nice. I think there was one in about 2km range but wasn’t able to find it. So for the next time there should be more coverage about the services nearby.

But after all it was a very nice being there and considering the organizational resources and the place all went very well!
