Today when I played TF2 I found my mouse to be “strange”. I don’t know how to describe it exactly, but basically I think my mouse acceleration has fucked up. I use mouse acceleration but the windows default, and have never played with any of the m_ commands in game. I watched my own and an STV demo prior to getting this issue, so maybe they’ve caused the problem, maybe not, I really have no idea. All I know is it’s fuckin horrible and no amount of cluelessly fiddling around and trying different things has worked.

It feels like what’s happening on screen is like 0.2 seconds behind what my mouse is doing, so there’s been an increase in how much movement is required to turn a certain distance overall. My sensitivity is the same as it always was, haven’t touched the windows mouse settings.

Edit: Just tried another Source game and it works perfectly, and with a quick glance at the m_accel commands they’re all set the same way as in tf2.

Absolute

Backup then Delete your cfg/autoexec/class cfg’s if applicable.

Try adding -noforcemaccel to your launch options. First reset it, by just putting -fullscreen, launch tf2, close, then add all your launch options again.

Put your config and autoexec back.

What mouse? you could try and get the latest drivers/firmware for the mouse, and then try and set it up all again.

Have a think what software you have installed recently and try uninstalling it if it makes an effect.

reference

// -noforcemspd ;; Use desktop mouse speed settings.
// -noforcemparms ;; Use desktop mouse buttons settings.
// -noforcemaccel ;; Use desktop mouse acceleration settings.

I tried all that to no avail. However, after alt tabbing (for about the thousandth time since this stuff occured) the problem rectified itself when I came back in. Weird.

Edit: Problem came back but was fixed by system restore.

If i were you kaidus i’d find some way of measuring and saving your mouse settings, because if you lose it again and your restore point, you’ll end up having to relearn your sensitivity/accel.
