Problems with Loss and Choke

Hey there,
since some days I have pretty severe problems with choke and loss. In heavy firefights I have about 20 loss and +40 choke. :( I have no problems with my ping tho, but the high choke/loss is quite annoying since it makes stickies / explosions disappear
My settings are as following:
rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
cl_interp 0.0152
cl_interp_ratio 1.5
I’ve been playing with my settings (setting the rates to 50, increasing cl_interp / ratio) but nothing helped. I’m sitting behind a 2mb/s connection, so that shouldn’t be a problem. The server I mainly play on is in germany, I’m in austria, so distance is also not really a problem. Can anyone help me? :
Doesn’t matter if your connection is 2mb or 24mb if it’s crap it’s crap, it’s either the routing to the server you’re playing on or you’ve just got a rubbish connection.
I have also had the same problem the last few days, but not everywhere.
My fps is a bit low but ok, my ping is ok, but it feels like playing in sirup. The feeling is about the same as the one you get when playing with less than 10 fps.
Could this have something to do with Mumble by the way ?
Usually I play public on many different servers without any problems, but as soon as I go into mumble and start playing a pcw on some war server the problem appears.
It seemed to help when I removed all my netcode commands like cmdrate, updaterate and so on, but I don’t know if this is the best solution.
Try setting your rate to 50000. That got rid of my choke but one some servers the max rate is capped.
Loss is most likley your ISP. Does it happen all the time or mainly the evenings?
Rate 50000 didn’t do anything unfortunately. I contacted my ISP today and they said there is a routing problem with another ISP, but they can’t really do anything since its located in germany. It is also well known. Guess I have to wait for it to fix itself.
If you get loss, and it’s not on your end (use WinMTR to find out) there’s very little you can do.
If you get loss in your local network, try a 2nd network card if you have one, or using cabled instead of wireless.
If there’s loss in your ISP’s network, complain and if that doesn’t work, leave your ISP.
When you have loss, you’ll have more choke, and when you have more choke, you hit less. No amount of config or Windows-tweaks will fix that.
Host, % loss, sent, received
In this case, everything *.xs4all.net is my provider, *.we-dare.net is the server’s hosting company, and fakkelbrigade.eu is pure awesomeness.
