Today the TF2 HL Cups group was running our first cup of the season after a break. Sadly, some decided that playing at their own skill level wasn’t going to be quite fun enough.

We heard that a group of div 3+ players were going to enter under alt-accounts so they could ‘troll div 6 teams’. Finding them was a doddle and we knew 3 days beforehand which team was them. Rather than just disqualifying them however we decided to have a bit of fun :-)

I made a second fake team as their opponents and let them connect to our server. After preceding to waste a bit of their time, I left with their IP’s thanks to the logs. After a bit of digging around I found out who some of them were:

Personally I think they should be fucking ashamed. The effort some of the other admins have put into making these cups happen and with a few ‘new to comp’ teams playing this week I’m really thankful we caught them before they put those teams off playing comp and ruined the low bracket for those playing.

Should have countered by getting a really good highlander team to fakenick to shit on them.

I considered this at one point but had enough to do with the cup as it was sadly :(
