After playing DoD:S for five minutes today I found some nice addon for it again. Basicly it allows you to change your ingame name in TF2 Options -> Multiplayer -> Advanced (scroll to the bottom).
All you need for it are these two files http://wuff.player.to/nameenabler/.
Copy them to steamapps/%accountname%/team fortress 2/tf/addons (create addons when its not there)
Thought it would be helpful for some of you guys, ’cause I personally dont like to change my Friendsname and the shit with “setinfo name” resets after each map or serverchange.
love

it’s a .dll after all, but ye :P
nvm, i’m stupid and dont know that VAC only looks at the default ones and the .exe :)
No waebi, VAC doesn’t only look at the default ones. It looks for everything which is loaded in the memory with the game.
But this should not be VAC bannable.
well Valve’s wiki says:
The following will not trigger a VAC ban:
[…]Playing multi-player mods which do not modify core .EXE and .DLL files[…]
I do not see any problems using it
multi player mods = Insurgency, Age of Chivalry, DIPRIP…
That has nothing to do with it.
But many people use that Name Enabler and none got VAC banned AFAIK.
Btw 95% of cheats are not modifying game files, but injecting code in the game when it launches.
what is a name enabler? :P
this is a great little addon, but for some reason it messes up my FPS config (m0re’s, slightly modified) and makes it say “Cbuf_AddText: buffer overflow” whenever it execs the alias file
of course, when I take it out of the addons folder, everything works normally
any possible fix for this?
ive always used ‘setinfo name “Akill the sex” in console, works fine
“multi player mods = Insurgency, Age of Chivalry, DIPRIP…”
TF2 is a source mod, and its multiplayer so therefore its referring to tf2 :x
However unlikely it may be that anything bad will happen, why even take the risk of loading arbitrary third-party .dll:s into the game?
don’t really se the point when you can SHIFT+TAB and just change it there, goes quick as hell…:P
