crashes with latest patch ?

Hi ive been crashing with the recent patch, dx95 seems to fix it (i usually use dx8) but it looks ugly as shit and reduces my frame rate, is there either a way to turn phong off or another fix ?

same issues it seems. It’s a nightmare for getting games when people are trying their best to be the last in and chain crashing each other. Or 1 player drops forcing another to drop on rejoin. fingers crossed for a quick fix.

My teammate fixed it by changing mat_queue_mode to -1 in Chris’ configs.
For the people that have such an amazingly shit computers that even the lowest detail dx9mode gives them bad fps, the only solution is to wait for an update where Valve wil fix dxlevel 80. As for phong shading in dxlevel 9x, we’re supposed to see a new cvar that allows turning it off/on manually in an upcoming update.

A teensy bit short sighted.. I get 200~300 fps on average on max quality dx9, but I still run dx8. Just saying! :)

Oh, sorry. I thought you were telling the people with shit computers that the only ‘solution’ was to wait for a fix.
Seems to me though that this very same ‘solution’ also applies to those with decent computers.. I suppose you just misworded your post, happens to the best of us! :)

ok so, here is the thing… i have NOT tested it, but when asking around and checking what settings most ppl who are not crashing on dx8 are running here is the single difference: cl_jiggle_bone_framerate_cutoff
default value is 45, chris highframes has 0… do the math
tl;dr – if ur crashing on dx8 try cl_jiggle_bone_framerate_cutoff 45 in your cfg
