I remember playing cs, If you turned up more than 2 mins late people would find another game and kick you. Much better attitude imo than our lazy “cool kids” attitude.

There should be much less tolerance of lateness in the tf2 scene

in CS you could find another game within 2 minutes.
If you could do the same in TF2, people would.

CS had a very large population of teams, but also a large number of quick mix teams that wanted to find a game. Literally, you could grab 5 random players, go into a war channel, and have a game in 2 mins of your desired skill level. Also, you would play 1 map, so team’s weren’t tied up for an hour. They could play a game in a matter of minutes, and go grab the next one.

21:15, as said a number of times in this thread, is simply because teams play at 20cet. While teams are also often late for this 20cet game, it does mean that if they need to be on time for the 21:15 game, they might only have to change the time limit on the second map down to 25 minutes.

It basically allows teams to be a bit late, allows a small break for whatever reason. I’d personally rather see TF2 cut down to 20 minutes per map, but then it does mean less game time, as you’re still not got to play 3 games a night.

I’d rather see people having 6 people already when they’re searching a game in #tf.wars.

I can’t fucking stand that you have to wait 15 min + until everyone has joined, started tf2, started steam, joined mumble, returned from toilet, returned from a smoke, returned from taking a dump. fuck this.

Honestly I would love that more teams would play later…
If you’re on GMT at least where I am it’s fairly hard to play from 20-21h (21-22 CET in this case) because most people are having dinner or away at that time.

You can sometimes find a war for those hours, but an official is impossible to schedule at that time , that has led to us particularly using lots of mercs on our games this season :(

I would be less tolerant of opponents showing up late if it wasn’t so pointless to try and find a game after kicking the opponents that showed up late. Almost all pcw’s we do are either pre-arranged or found outside of IRC. If I have to kick my opponents for being late it could well take me another 10 minutes to find opponents. So at that point, why bother kicking my opponents who (for about 70% of the time) will still show up within a 10 minute margin of the starting point.

Sticking to your principles is cool and all, but I prefer being practical most of the time.

So people get it in their heads and learn to not look for a game when it takes them another 20 minutes to join. You can make the world a better place.
