FPS drops after Halloween update

So after the Halloween update my fps started to drop so hard. Before the update I used to have like 150 fps 6v6 @mid, now i get like 80. I tried defragmenting, verifying, changing resolution, updating hud and config and nothing worked…
Specs: AMD FX-4100, GIGABYTE R685OC-1GD, 2x4GB RAM
Launch optins: -dxlevel 81 -sw -noborder -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -insecure -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd
I’m using Chris’ highframes config and modified KNHUD (+OpenPlugin with mat_picmip 6).
So, any ideas how to fix?
Same here. Under 100 fps with i7, gtx 580 and stuffs.
Let’s hope it goes away after the 9th of November.
try to delete you tf folder, when you restart tf2 it will be recreate.
Folder is found at this directory;
*wherever steam is kept*/Steam/Steamapps/username/temafortress2/tf
if you have configs/huds installed you’ll need to save redownload them. This method will also loose you your demos and custom maps you’ve downloaded.
These can be fixed by simply copying your cfg and map folders and your demos to another directory. Then moving them back in when the tf folder has been recreated.
I did this and now my tf2 work better. you should try it.
Same thing happened to me. I had a nice stable 190-200 in 6v6 games, and the other day I had drops as low as 60FPS.
This is stupid.
Since the Halloween Update TF2 forces some CPUs with energy saving options (->running at lower clock speed) to run at the LOWEST possible clock speed (for example 900 MHz for most i3, i5 and i7 CPUs). Just check it with CPU-Z (bottom left, labelled as “Core Speed”) or another program that shows the ACTUAL core speed.

Different problem, or failed solution?
Setsul posted solution but my CPU minimum was already 100% so…

They updated the threaded renderer, check your settings.
What? Didn’t find anything new/unusual on my settings.

Intel Turbo Boost or similiar things can still mess it up. You should really check the actual clock speed while playing to be sure it´s not this problem. Unless you already found the problem it´s worth a try.
