Hello,
I’d like to play with fov_desired 120, the last week or so I haven’t been able to switch it to anything above 90, is there any change been made recently that could affect this, is it possibly HUD related (I’m using omp’s HUD), also – is 120 actually permitted?
Cheers.

Using this for a really really long time now. I’d say it’s trustworthy. :)

Thanks, is there a definitive admin stance on using it?

None, only Permzilla saying they won’t make one, but also won’t ban for it, scaring people away with VAC bans.

Ah ok, I thought that Permzilla guy was like a mascot or something.
Cheers.

[13:17] xkll: thanks <3
[13:17] Permzilla: basically if anyone gets VAC'd, then it's their fault :p
[13:18] xkll: pretty much

Not wishing to be a massive douche and all but I thought the definition of a cheat was making the game do something that it couldn’t normally do…
Is it only allowed because it’s impossible to detect or am I missing something?

Higher FoV can be achieved by tinkering with your resolution. It should be a feature in the game anyway.
See for me that’s total bullshit. 99% of people who play this game wouldn’t know about tinkering with resolution to increase FOV above the game’s limit….ie cheat, but the one’s that do gain an advantage and eyes in the back of their head.
Bullshit. I know video games are hardly meant to be realistic…well, most of them, but why should some people be able to see 120 degrees when nearly everyone else is limited to 90?
It shouldn’t be a feature of the game, I mean who would have FOV set at 90 when 120 was an option…what’s the point of having it there at all?
Game should have everyone on the same footing, not someone seeing 90 and the next seeing 120. Bullshit.
Now where’s that vent your anger thread gone…

So much rage over personal preference. I still know some russian players who play with 75 fov cause it’s easier to aim with as targets appear to be bigger. I for example would never play with 120 fov. 105 is optimal for me in QL and TF2
(sv_cheats 1 fun with teammates). 99% of the playerbase doesn’t know how to set up hud crosshairs that blink on damage either, should we ban those too?
Because you wouldn’t be able to hit anything or even see anything at distance? FPS and smaller models is the cost for higher FOV. Stop mad.
Everyone is free to use this plugin, just as everyone is free to change their resolution. If people aren’t looking to gain free advantages then they shouldn’t care if someone else has one.
Also, most FPS’ similar to TF2 have an FoV limit that goes a lot higher than 90. It just makes sense to put the limit higher, especially for people transitioning into the game.

???
There’s loads of stuff in this game that you can tinker with which gives you a slight advantage… Countless examples: Net settings, sound settings, graphics settings, console commands that give you extra information that is otherwise not available explicitly, that no-tunnelvision script for snipers, null cancelling movement script, fov_desired bind to lower fov to zoom with unzoomable weapons, etc. And what about hardware? Better PCs give more consistent framerates, people with 120Hz monitors have an almost undeniable advantage over lower-refreshrate players, and so on.
It’s not strange or “bullshit” that people try to tinker with their game as much as possible, exploring the boundaries of what is “legit” and what not; it’s something that comes with the “will to win”, and you see it happen in any competitive environment.

Not the same as dingaling gives same info.

Didn’t think about it too much, this makes sense. Mad stopped. Although a beast PC and 3 screen display would soon sort that out.

I’m not free to use it if I don’t know about it.
Anyway, mad stopped, calm down dears, calm down.
