On the other hand, I wonder if it’s possible to cast from a servers again, set up delayed relay bot for mumble to sync with STV, put 120 seconds delay on stream and so on? It’s kinda way too complicated, but STV bugs will be gone and STV/Mumble option will be still here.

Disappointed to do this, but I wanted to make it clear.

I don’t like people suggesting I am not reading posts or ignoring them. Apologies if you took this as me being angry but that’s the way I read it and I am quite blunt sometimes due to not being afraid to speak my mind.

I always welcome suggestions, I am quite certain that is the same for all at VTV. Unfortunately, what your asking we can’t accomodate. As I said, welcome for you to try and investigate this but right now we don’t have the time or man power to assist this. I still think the only way to do this would be to go back to oldschool methods of delays via a shoutcast server or something.

If there’s anything else, feel free to come and speak to me directly. I think I am pretty approachable about most stuff, so anything else let me know,

Having the casters on server and a delayed bot on Mumble will mess up the stream during pauses. Just like with the team comms.
Also, mumble relay bots have no logins and therefore no special permissions. This really limits the stuff we can do on mumble.
You also need an extra person to babysit the relaybots, make sure they’re unmuted, still online and still working properly.

If only we had a configurable delay per relay ;)

Instead of trying to fix the ‘solution’ until it works, why not have another look at the actual problem? As I see it, monkeh’s problem is –

Something happens in game > the commentators on STV talk about it > monkeh wasn’t watching that bit and can’t get to it in time to watch it happening.

So either

a) sourceTV needs to have a cameraman so everyone sees what the commentators are watching, or faster methods of finding action (this bit is probably only possible for valve to fix)

b) the commentators need to be more clear about what part of the action they’re following before it happens, so monkeh knows where to watch to follow what they’re talking about. Perhaps using a radio commentary style of narration (assume the viewer can’t actually see the action) so it’s immediately obvious who they’re watching the whole time

c) monkeh needs to get some gamesense so he knows where the action’s about to happen ;)

Just wanted to mention that I did exactly this at i46 after the grand final to let you know what a good job I thought you’d done over that weekend :D

It’s all cool, I didn’t realise what I was asking for, as a tech retard, would be difficult/impossible, in my head a relay on a relay with some magic command for set_delay_5 or something would have been amazingly simples…Doh.

@ Snowie:

a) STV has a ‘directed’ mode right now, the fact it’s poo is a problem though.

c) never gonna happen

A quick mention of, “I’m watching Kaidus right now as he looks to push choke…” or something similar, would be great. I’ve heard it before but not that often.
