All that effort and some pretty cool shots, but it doesn’t go anywhere :(

I’m a bit disappointed to see that a lot of freddiew’s videos are turning into semi-advertisement/fanservice/VFX excercise. If you look at earlier vids, there was always a really cool core concept behind it, which was executed well start to finish. Now we see mainly rehashes of the same concepts or generally just less inventiveness, or semi-cool sequences thrown together in a messy way.

VGHS was a core example of that; a good excercise in making a tv show by-the-book, but not much inventiveness in terms of cinematography or the amazing setpieces that we see from the single youtube releases. Videos like Aimbot, Chrono Trigger, One Shot and Time Crisis, were basically just shootouts, but they were so much more amazing because they had choreography, directing, and editing that topped most of Hollywood’s current crap, done on a minimal budget. And the nonviolent comedic stuff was just as inventive whilst staying to-the-point.

blabla whine whine whine.. Maybe I’m just expecting every next freddiew vid to be 10x better than the previous ;)
