I think scouts are good positive/offensive classes. Part of the reason for demo limit 1 was that you could lock down choke points and it made the game more defensive/negative. Keep 2.

I think the best idea would be just not to allow the sandman.

the sandman is op imo.
the day before yesterday we had a pcw on granary. and both scouts were using this shitty sandman. and (yes, it was also kind of unlucky) but it was always [8 times or sthg] me as demo that got stunned by this shit. so it is demo limit 1, and i got killed by this every fucking time. if i only tried just to look for the enemy, is saw a base ball fyling into my face. further i saw myself standing around for a while. and then? got fragged by a the other team beacause there was no chance to avoid this stun.

if there was the possibility (compared to the pyro’s fire) to reduce the time, where you (burn) are being stunned by healing, there could be a way to fit this sandman to the rest of tf2 and its class updates so far.

but the possibility to make other players totally helpless is fucking imba op.
And as said before: it’s a fukcing melee weapon. f.e. they could also make the heavy be able to throw his KGB to breck necks or sthg… bullshit.

I agree with Mick and every other one who thinks that stunning like this does not belong to a fps.

TF2 should be class limit one not just DL1 or SL1. CL1 forces clans to play those lesser used classes. TmG or Vale, for example, play with only one duplicate class as it is. I see no reason why competitive TF2 should not go CL1, no doubt this will bring the arguments from those high end clans whose success is largely based upon their scout duo

CL1 is bad, I doubt anyone enjoys getting headshotted by Jh, 32 or another good sniper all the time.

What if the sandman was allowed, but instead of that insta-stun nonsense:

– Pressing fire uses the bat

– When pressing alt fire the scout’s aim locks (~heavy taunt)
– The scout yells “Hey punk!”
– ~1s delay
– Ball is shot as usual

That would barely change the gameplay/intended use in pubs.
In competitive games however:

– Balls would be easy to dodge provided you’re not stuck in a choke point
– Scouts using it would be severely hindered (can’t dodge rockets while shooting)
– You could still do pro anticipation moves

Imo that would fix the OP part and keep the weapon fun and useful in specific situations.
(Maybe give it an extra ball or two, even)

Fragga, I dont think it matters what classlimits you have, if you have classlimit 1, then people will complain about something else then two great scouts, then they will complain about that sniper who should be banned because he is so OP or some other class…

I think the gameplay is great the way it is, but the sandman have to go imo, it destroys the fine gameply we have, the other weapons the scout got, sure they work…but not the baseballcrap :)

And everyone else in this forum doesnt like it either so it is easier to just ban it, than say to valve “change it instead”

Start with the BAN, then of course we shall talk to valve, but we know how long it could take for them to understand our arguments

Of course. Both teams have equal access to it so it’s OK. It doesnt matter that it makes the game considerably less fun to non-scout players, which will do nothing to help the community (non-scout players will leave the game or everyone will change to scout because they’re sick of it). Scout 6on6 anyone?
