Hey guys and gals
First off, wanted to say thanks for a fun match last night. Everyone played well, and even though we got a bit negative at times (we’ll have to look into that) I think it was a positive experience for everyone.
Right… I have tactics on the brain, so get comfy.
One of the big flaws I’ve noticed in our current playstyle is that when things go badly, we don’t seem to be able to identify WHY. Everyone suddenly goes quiet on Vent and we just lose another round. NOW, Luke came up with the idea last night to have a more steam roller based load out, and it worked really well, to begin with. Once the NuBs adjusted to this, they went back to winning. Now here’s where it gets interesting kids. When we finally said “Right, this isn’t working” and went back to the scout load out we won another round… Interesting.
What I propose, is to get 3 sets of class configs ready in our minds and be ready to switch between them at will… My reasoning for this is that while we may be rubbish at identifying why we’re losing, changing the classes up refreshes everyone, gets losing out of their mind and takes the other clan by suprise. We came right back and won a few rounds as soon as we changed set up last night…
Ok, so the 2 sets we have at the moment are:
Standard set:
2x Scouts
2x Soldiers
1x Medic
1x Demo
Steam Roller:
1x Medic
2x Soldiers
1x Demo
1x Heavy
1x Pyro
As I see it, Standard is your all purpose set. Some fast classes mixed with slow. Shock and awe is obvisouly slower with the inclusion of the heavy. So I think we need a more speed based class:
Shock and Awe:
2x Scouts
2x Pyro
1x Demo
1x Medic (Though possibly changing medic for ANOTHER offensive class, maybe even Spy just to really put them on the back foot and make them pull back)
So that’s my thoughts. Please weigh in with comments.
Oh, and Reaper, I challenge you to say something positive. I shall send you a sloppy kiss in the post if you do
Major
we use the shock and awe in moder all the time. we tend to switch the medic for a scout though
It made me laugh. I think this was tactics somewhere in the timespan just after 8v8 died out and 6v6 was becoming the norm. i could be wrong though

8v8 tactics were discussed as an opponent for 6v6 only in late 2007, not in 2009 ofc.
Does somebody got a very old Demo of the time where Tf2 where played with 8vs8 or with a pyro or something?
