I just installed Vista because my pc needed a format and i didnt had the xp serial code and cd. So after installing vista and all of my drivers when i went in-game on l4D my fps was dropped with like 50% k i thought it was normal because i only have 2gb of ram but then all of a sudden when i tried playing TF2 my fps of 60 became 80??? i tried it with css and also my fps had dropped with a good 50%
anyone knows what happened. It’s not a problem its just very very weird :p
Different Engines probably.
CS:S = Normal Source Engine
TF2 = Orange Box Source Engine
L4D = L4D Source Engine
But I dno really :P
Different gfx settings? Cause my sys runs fine with “Vista” (Server 2k8)
what i mean: are you sure you kept the same Video settings (Antialiasing etc) ?
Cause that could cause a nice drop.
TF2 = PWN. Your computer detects that and gives such a good game extra processing power.
It’s the only explanation.
i have vista now, had xp and no change rly, apart from a 10% increase in l4d so i have no idea what ur systems doin wrong

I can explain the drop thats just because of my ram probably. and no it cant be dx10 because the engine doesnt supports that yet. Just gonna buy some more ram and then see what it does.
btw vista gives me the creeps first time one of hdd began to idle i thought for sure my pc was going to chrash :D
If you list your setup we may be able to help further,
Are you using an ATI based graphics card by chance?
Mike
I think your getting this guy wrong… read what he said… he gets 80 in stead of 60 fps in his tf2 now. wich strikes me as odd as well btw just be thankfull for it.
I am using an ati card… its good the way it is it just sucks when i want to play another game now ^^
Enable multi-core settings in L4D.
i already use my 2-cores. Wanted to try windows 7 now but installing it without any result… maybe i just needed to stay with xp <3
your gonna have issues running srcds on your machine my mate has vista but has to run his server on a xp machine as the ip’s get messed up under vista …. would be interested to hear any solutions to a vista workround
