Roll up, roll up, its time for the 2nd ever 6v6newbiemix cup, the Christmas Cup!

The rules are simple; its a double knockout tournament where teams are comprised of 5 individuals and one experienced mentor, who will then take part in a week long tournament with some great christmas prizes

No prior TF2 experience is required, although we reccomend you take part in a few newbiemixes beforehand to get a feel for it(which can be joined and accessed as normal, just check our page at http://steamcommunity.com/groups/6v6newmix) or seek a mentor, also acquired from the same page

/Rules/
General 6v6newbiemix rules will apply (vanilla set etc)
Maps will be specified
Signups close 11:59 GMT on Friday
Teams and brackets will be released on the saturday
Try and get your games played as soon as possible; we’re allowing a week to play all the games, but this could change depending on how many people sign up
To sign up, just comment on this page with the class you’d like to play (please keep it soldier, scout demo or medic, and you can offclass from there after talking with your mentor) and check back on saturday for the teams
Matches will be played on average around 6-10 GMT, so for all the alternate timezoners there make sure you can adjust to play then!

Now here’s how it’s going to work; its you and your mentors responsibility to schedule these games with your opposition, now obviously if we get a lot of people involved the scheduling its going to need to be tight and mercs may need to be involved; just get your mentor to submit a merc request to me or crashsite

Want to take part but unsure if youll have the time this week? submit yourself as a backup and theres a good chance you’ll be needed!

Any questions just reply here and ill get back to you!

As you can see we are planning to do a massive Newbie mix tournment, hopefully inspiring new people to join our ranks. But we need help, like always, it making this happen.

– First we need the word to be spread, so I would like to ask anyone with god ties to public communities to post on their forums about this, if you want to simply copy paste the message above or write your own it is all good. Contact me if want details or simply to tell me which community you have told.

– We have also already posted this on reddit so more upvotes would help: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/

-For the actually tourny we need admins for the mixes, although I am sure we should get enough, backups never hurt. We might also need servers, although we should be fine, extras are always good. Admins need to be calm, able to explain the basics, any rage and you will be kicked without a second thought.

Div6 demoman reporting for duty.

What crash didn’t make clear is he pasted the body of this post from the group meaning that it says that you should comment here to enter; this isn’t the case as everyone should post in http://steamcommunity.com/groups/6v6newmix/announcements/detail/1082219098684825320 to enter, and brackets will be posted there. I will enter everyone who has already posted in this thread, but please join up to the group and read the main post!

alien^, div6 demoman here ( never played it before).

So theres a upper experience-Limit, right? (just for knowledge)

Awesome idea crashsite and co.
Can you be a bit more specific with the skill levels?
For example how does one fit in to the class of mentor? And what level do you have to be at to play in the team normally? (is there a cap?)

Wll post on some of the community forums for servers I play on frequently.
Just wondering if it will be worthwhile to mentor a compeltely public team or call on an already existing div5 team instead… Will be fun either way :)

Div 5 may be too high skill. these cups are primarily designed for teamless public players, division 6 players who are just starting out.

Anyone above that skill is welcome to come and mentor a team or to play in a team as a merc/caller etc.

@Butterstulle, we would prefer any people div5 or above to either offclass or seek as a mentor, me and Crash will be personally balancing the teams for the fairest experiences anyway, but it makes it easier

@Wrock, we want the cup to be a close and as fair as possible, so me and crash will be making the teams. This cup is aimed at people who are quite new to tf2, and we don’t want pre made teams ruining the fun by knocking them out with one sided games. If certain players want to be together I’ll see what I can do.

@HH, A mentor should have the knowledge of the game to be able to main call, teach a new player the basic mechanics, rollouts and calls of TF2 and be very patient, as they will be dealing with new players. We want the skill level to be more aimed at new players, as the aim of the group is to provide a friendly and balanced alternative to tf2lobby and the like. If you think you’d be up for mentoring a team, crash is the man to talk to.

Oh and btw, any advertisement for the group you can provide is much appreciated, and we would love as much as possible. If anyone has links with public communities (Saigns, Lotus etc) then I’d love you to get in contact and post the results here ;)
