TF2Maps.net is wrapping up their Asymmetry/Symmetry Control Point Map Contest. Authors had a choice of making a symmetrical or asymmetrical control point map and five months to complete it. Head over to their contest page to download and play the collection. There are a couple servers running the collection. When you’re done be sure to help them choose a winner!

Downloading the pack, Ill leave some impressions as I check the maps out
cp_breakout_a8: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). Linear, 3 points that have to be capped in order. Indoor, but larger then junction.
cp_canyonfodder_b7: Offence/Defense map (dustbowl-style). 3 stages with 2 capture points each. Very large and open at times.
cp_clocktower: 5cp map (fully symmetrical). Medieval style. Fairly large (especially cp1). Middle and cp2 look very interesting.
cp_copperhead_b1e: Offence/Defense map (dustbowl-style). 3 stages with 2 capture points each. Decent layout.
cp_croissant_b1: 5cp map (left/right mirrored). Arnolds map? Has a waterfall (and large lake!). Layout looks interesting, but might be hard to grasp as its mirrored (like viaduct).
cp_desertion_b6: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. Smaller then gorge, but has some fairly large sightlines.
cp_frozen_assets_final: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. Very huge, funny layout. Something for a 32 man fun server perhaps.
cp_mojave_b1: Offence/Defense map (dustbowl-style). 2 stages with 2 capture points each. Might be interesting.
cp_omen_b6: 5cp map (fully symmetrical). Relatively small. Definitely worth a try.
cp_pilolukpass: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. Extremely huge. 2 minute setup time. A takes 2 minutes to cap.
cp_powderhorn_final: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. About the same size as gorge.
cp_process_b1: 5cp map (fully symmetrical). Doesn’t really stand out, but worth a look.
cp_relay_b3: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 3 points that have to be capped in order. Layout is pretty clear and straightforward.
cp_sekhmet_b1: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. Egyptian art style. About as large as gorge.
cp_ship: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 3 points that have to be capped in order. Takes place on a ship. Indoor map.
cp_slush_b1: Offence/Defense map (dustbowl-style). 2 stages with 2 capture points each.
cp_zig_stage_a_18: Offence/Defense map (gravelpit-style). 2 points that have to be capped in order. Looks impressive. Interesting layout.
Go check them out. Some awesome stuff in there.

Mirrors are always difficult.. I still attack mine sometimes.
Croissant should be named Lobster. discuss.
A lot of Gravelpit style maps in the contest along with the 5cp maps.
Shame there wasn’t as much experimentation with the game mode as there was with the competitive ctf contest they did a couple of years ago. :(
It’s also worth noting one of the conditions for the contest was for the map to be playable on 32 man servers so there is a slight danger the maps maybe a little too large for 6v6 gameplay – still worth having a look at but I’d leave it for Highlander matches or 7v7s tbh. :D
