They call me the most jealous medic in york
In terms of thought process etc I think there are quite a lot of good medic videos on MyGamingEdge, although in fairness I haven’t watched any since Byte’s ones.
Add me on Steam if you want tough Irish love.
step 1 get a good demo
step 2 never stop healing him
step 3 win
having moved to med a few months ago i guess i found healing itself is simple keep your team topped up etc its more about how you position yourself and your team around you try to have a good knowledge of situations and what to do in them if there medic is down stands to reason the other team are prob gonna go crazy on you and try to kill you,
more than welcome to add me to steam any meds looking for love, always nice too see more people looking to improve etc people should be trying to support each other for the good of tf2.

I’ve watched them all :D
It’s not as effective to mentor a medic individually, as your positioning depends so much on what your team is doing. It really all comes down to having a “plan” for each push or hold for your team as a whole, and all you need to do is stand/run to where you are meant to be.
What people can teach you I guess is stuff like neat little dodging tricks, how to count uber and rocket surfing.
Although I don’t main medic, if you want to know what I expect from a med from a team/strategy standpoint I’m happy to talk about it over steam.

If I have the time!
edit: fml I realized you asked for “positioning tips” not “dodging tips”
If you dont have povohats movement script, get it right now. One misstake I see most medics do is to not dodge left + right constantly. If you go from point A to point B, try to at least zick-zack your way there.
If youre beeing chased by demos or soldiers or whatever projectile class, unless they are retarded theyre gonna spam the choke / escape path behind you. What usualy works for me is to turn around, look at the choke/escape point and run there with your medigun out, then suddenly turn 180 degrees with needles / ubersaw out and attack, then turn back and run at the choke. It really about how much ammo the chasers have. If a soldier if out of rockets you can easily run to safety if hes not too close. In other words dont do the obvious predictable stuff, try to waste their ammo and deal some damage on chasers.
Scouts are quite another story. You have probably gotten a few kills by running backwards, going around a corner with your ubersaw out and jump on him as soon as he comes around. Its fun but a little bit too risky. If you go around a corner / wall /obstacle, make sure the scout sees that you pull out your ubersaw. Hes gonna know that youre waiting behind there and ubersawing him. What youre really doing is however to make him belive that youre waiting, but as the scout is delaying his rush for a second to avoid beeing predictable (for example, not turning around the corner point blank), youre already running even further away.
Also dont underrestimate the power of spastic movements, shake your mouse around and spam WSAD if you really dont have any option. Running forward and shaking your mouse left and right very fast makes you unpredictable. However you lose focus on screen and whats happening around you so its not really something I reccomend.
Its always better to be safe than sorry. Something crazy stuff happens. While your heavies are focusing on something else, a scout can drop down from above, come up from a slope or hide behind a corner that someone missed to check. Whenever I see a scout with killing intention (eg hes going to 2shot you and make a frag video of rushing 3 players and killing their medic) I bring out my ubersaw. It hinders him from getting too close as he know he’ll be sawed. You really just sacriface 1-3 seconds of healing while doing so.

When alone in small chokepoints getting chased: run backwards & spam needles.
