Being new here, I didn’t know anything about tf2uk.com =[

Having said that, I don’t really know any other TF2 sites other than etf2l.org – are there more that I should know about?

Why?

TF2 already has news outlets. Would this be UK Scene specific news? I don’t see the point in a tf2uk existing really?

I believe the idea was to bond the UK TF2 scene together with news, info, and a place to chat. One of the outcomes of this would be better lan attendance and working with new uk players in the scene and from community teams if they wanted to learn more, as per the other countrys that have their own country specific website.
But the main deal with those is that they speak their own language – and as etf2l everyone speaks english there wasn’t that much of a hook to make people interested, if it has carried on maybe it would have picked up but thats alot of work.

Pretty much exactly it and tbh I still think it can work, I will personally take on the project if 1.Enef decided not to carry it on and 2. If Enef would allow it :p

Tapley hit the nail on the head.

The dutch, scandis, Germans, finns and French have their own forum sections to discuss their own lans, gatherings, support new players, help each others teams etc

There is tfportal, the Russians have their own league and the Portuguese.have a huge communal mumble.

This is.why they are strong communities, they all help each other and support each other through these avenues.

Compared to this, the UK scene is a shambles. There is so much trolling, hate and unnecessary asshole-ish behaviour that it honestly can suck to be an English player sometimes.

Tf2uk was provided, by me, to try and give the community the platform to prove itself. So far the response has been dull. Swarlz, Chris, wabby and a few others have made honest efforts to support the project. There has been little trolling but also little support from anyone else. If this is to ever take off it will need time and effort from everyone. The site format and design can be shit (i was rushed, fuck you guys) or it could be perfect, if people don’t show solidarity and put in the effort then it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference.

As for if ill keep the site going that remains to be seen. There is still about 2 weeks before I make another payment.

(ps swarlz hit me on steam tonight or something if you want to help out )

I am a little unsure in what other community use sites like this for@?

Basically if TF2UK is to be sucessful then we need to have basic aims in what it will accomplish, as we already have news sites such as vanilla, all in english, TF2UK can not simply be a news portal.

Considering the UK scene the best thing to concentrate on will be LANs, at least for the moment. If we can get more and more people going to LANs from the UK, maybe use it to make LAN teams etc, it could be useful for that. Are there any other things that other people see as important that can be adressed by a site like this.

See my post above – Also just because vanilla tf2 has news why cant tf2uk have just uk news, stuff that may not be important enough to go on vanilla and then you get about 15 people with unicorns saying “LOL WHY POST THIS” Even if its the occasional uk team creation news – uk players transfers – Interviews with uk players – uk buddy systems – The list is endless – you just need a crew of people who are dedicated and won’t give up after a few weeks if it seems like it doesn’t work, a community takes months to build in popularity.

For example we’ll need a large public server with hlstats etc advertising the website, decent maps people enjoy pl/cp/ctf acceptable class limits etc. I’d just clone the hampshire heavies public server tbh :].

It can work – you just need a dedicated team of resilliant-intelligent people who’ll percivere no matter what.

Slap me up if you have a meeting tonight guys i’d be happy to help if needed.
