Thank you for all the support of the teams trying to get themselves sorted for the event to ensure that the TF2 tournament happens. We do hope to see you all there.

We took quite a personal financial risk investing in the prize for the tournament, after assessing the demand right here through ETF2L, which at the time of asking was very high. Unlike other events, we have no financial backers, no huge sponsors, we’re building this from ground up ourselves and by doing so, we believe will be more stable in the long run, if the gaming communities support it. It’s because of this model that we’re ensuring that we pay out our prize monies on time, because we wont be waiting for 3rd parties to pay us, to then pay you.

I appreciate all of the comments about funding and sponsorship for teams to attend, but if LAN events only had sponsored teams attending, they would never get to the stage they are at now both in the UK and beyond. We already have around 80 people attending epic.FIVE who wont even be entering the tournaments, they go for the LAN experience, to play some games (including TF2), have a few drinks and to enjoy themselves, none of those participants will be sponsored to attend, and I guess the majority at last year’s i-series weren’t either.

For the game to continue to grow into the competitive world (and I personally want to see that happen with TF2), there has to be a two way support, both from organisations such as ours, who are willing to give it a try in the competitive arena, and then for the communities and teams to get along to the events and support them as best as possible on a regular basis.

PS – Just to clarify, the event will be running regardless, it’s the TF2 tournament that we are evaluating.

Might go if I can get a lift from York or somewhere nearby….

If I could get a lift to and from Barnsley and somewhere to stay for the duration of the event I can go…

Need a lift from Scarborough/York/Hull area. Otherwise it’s a bleak train ride with all my gear.
