fps issues

haven’t changed any hardware, installed anything new, changed anything in my configs or whatever – yet since two days ago I’ve been dropping to ~40fps randomely. :( need some halp
specs
Intel Core2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33GHz
3GB ddr2 ram
nVidia GeForce 8600 GT

I don’t know why, but I never capitalise the first letter of the first word during informal talk. never have, never will.

steam is shit atm seb i get really bad fps drops as well.
only thing i can suggest is try see if enable multicore is on
nope, that’s just the letter I :P anyway back to the matter at hand! :(

it was on before, but that caused me to lag every 30 seconds. the game would literally stop and audio would repeat itself. turning it off solved that, but now I’ve got this shit
steam cloud or antivirus? no idea tbh :D
