Last time I visited they still played on pirated copies of CS 1.6 on cracked servers.
And this was 3 months ago.
There is the same problem in Russia, Ukraine, probably other eastern countries. Public players doesn’t see reason to buy game cuz they can play for free loacally on cracked servers and clients. But, as valve makes updates often and players need to install it manually, and as best players prefer legal servers, others buys game after several months they spend to become a good player (at least on public) and to understand that they wont leave tf2 and manual updates will make them crazy.
Even so, Russian community is pretty big.

Wait. CS 1.6 still gets updates?
Believe me. In Romania, most players who play the cracked version have no idea what an update is. Moreso, there’re only like.. 2-3 CS packages released by “famous” cracked server providers/communities, so basically everyone has the same version. Not to mention G(ay)arena or other crap similar to it.
