TF2 halloween update came. I wanted to start TF2 but recognized it magicly deleted its self ( I didnt delete it). In the steamapps folder, the TF2 is there, like it was and has to be, but steam doesnt recognize it as installed. So, I tried to reinstall TF2, but it says steam servers are busy, try again later. And THEN, another sine pops out and says that I dont have enough disk space to run this game. But I do. The drive I installed steam to has 222 more GB left. Disk C and D have 10 or more. Its halloween in TF2 and I really dont want to miss it. Other games run just fine, nothing bad at all. Things Ive done : Deleted TF2 folder in steam and tried to install, same thing. Deleted steam, reinstalled it. Tried to download TF2, same thing. Tried to install it TF2 from a backup, same thing. Deleted ClientRegistery.blob. No luck. Please help?

just copied the the text from some yahoo answer thingie…but got the same problem

is your hard drive FAT32 by any chance. I think there is a file in tf2 now that grew over 4gb since the halloween update, which fat32 filesystem cant handle.

it’s not deinstalled, fat32 just doesn’t understand the GCF when it is over 4GB.

Dr. med.

Why don’t you simply convert the partition from FAT32 to NTFS? There isn’t really a reason not to. You won’t lose any data (when done like it’s done normally) and even have some more space available afterward.

Does that even work on the drive windows is installed on?

I doubt someone who thinks that NTFS is “deinstalled” would know how to properly convert a partition from FAT32 to NTFS.

Safest thing to do Caliban would just be to reinstall windows and make sure you pick NTFS. :(

Yes, buts its dodgy as fuck, and its just generally a really really bad idea to begin with.

This looks pretty easy

This looks pretty easy

It doesn’t mention any of the things that could go wrong, and how to fix stuff if that happens (or how to prevent things going wrong). Driving a car looks pretty easy too until you take your first lesson.
