I don’t think you’ll find the ‘chubby chaser’ equivalent for airshots. It’s not all opinion, some airshots (like a soldier jumping straight towards your face when you’re standing on spire) aren’t impressive while hitting an airstrafing demo at long-range is.
With regards to airstrafing, I wouldn’t say that an airshot on an opponent who can’t airstrafe (say you hit them directly up) is less impressive because he can’t airstrafe. It does however detract from airshots that are easily avoided with a little bit of strafing magic.
indeed, but if not as you said all it is mostly opinion. some people prefer a triple, some a sick angle, some in a tense situation, some two of the former together, etc.
personally though my favourite’s anything that concerns long range airshots in which the enemys flying away from you or just something really sick (for the first one, Fraggas england v czech air on A gpit, and for the second Extremers shot in that pairo and demo clip from Morf). a huge plus is a place you dont see many airs, like gravelpit A, etc.
if we’re whoring our own clips then i nominate my shot from they may commFT :D
For me the most impressive airshots are definitely ones with great distance and precision with the obvious bit of luck. Fraggas old frag videos include some of the most impressive airshots for me:

However airshots are a small part of the game and way too over-rated/used. Anyway have on of mine:

Long distance, horizontal (not somebody who went straight up in the air), with a bit of luck.
stupid topic, mine is the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9fXKJWlzow

Airstrafing is the reason that I think a perfect airshot will never be found. If they don’t airstrafe they don’t dodge but if they do… they went in to your shot. I agree with pretty much everything else, although Side|Effect brought up the point that to achieve maximum speed you need to travel in a straight line pretty much.
I agree to some extent. But when you got more speed its easier to airstrafe, thats how the engine works. Thats one of the reasons why its way more skillfull to airshots demo’s instead of soldiers.
I would also say that airstrafe doesnt means it is totally unpredictable. If its totally unclear where they go, a jumping demoman can change direction at least three times mid air to stay totally unpredictable. But most of the time, there is an obvious goal, like the medic, the spire, the basket in bball. So they cant be totally unpredictable, even though they airstrafe.
BTW, i think this airshot is really cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bRtEB4j5UY

Long distance with strafing (That’s predicted rather than them strafing into it randomly)
Not straight up
Preferably knocked back with a meh-ish airshot to make a double airshot.
And most importantly an airgib :D

How do you tell if it was predicted or if they airstrafed into it randomly/by accident. The end result remains the same.
