Hello,
It’s been a while since the last update. I’ll briefly say what the recording tool does (for those that don’t know). The recording tool gives you an easy to use interface to record your demos to video files. The recording tool does everything for you, it copies all the necessary files you need.
So what’s new?
– Lots of new custom effects created by bolty. See this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT0bJfdNJBI&feature=related Screenshots: http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/ingame2.jpg http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/ingame3.jpg http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/ingame4.jpg
– Custom skyboxes http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/ingame1.jpg
– New ingame menu, you can use your mouse to change settings http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/ingame_menu.jpg
– You can save your settings ingame and the recording tool will detect your saved settings
– Fixed lots of small bugs like the scout energy drink meter
– Added lots of languages for the recording tool (most European languages, thanks to everyone who helped out with those)
– Added more codecs to the encoding panel (like Lagarith and FFV1, you can read more about lossless codecs here: http://www.pldx.com/blog.php/2010/08/useful-lossless-codecs/) http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/encodingpanel.jpg (requires ffmpeg, detailed instructions can be found in the program)
– Added an alternative compiling method, virtualdub compiler (requires virtualdub, detailed instructions can be found in the program) http://www.pldx.com/blogimg/vdubpanel.jpg
– Slightly improved the thirdperson mode functionality

If i already have those programs installed for the old tool, do i have to install them again or can i just copy/paste directories?

you need to download that http://tripp.arrozcru.com/builds/ffmpeg-18639.7z and extract it somewhere and then in the encoding panel go to the settings tab and press “open ffmpeg.exe” and locate ffmpeg.exe
Sick work guys!! The beta version diddent work for me, so i really hope it works this time. Thanks for the awesome work!
Wow, looks like a great update and I can’t wait to try it out when I get home. I’m a big fan of your tool and have been using it ever since I found out about its existence, keep up the good work

Haha, thanks.
Such a good job on the tool. Gratz.
I’ve seen problems with the new explosions where u can see them through walls, is this still present in the PLDX version?

I also noticed this when I used the custom effects with the old PLDX.Even if it still does occur with this version, you should be able to remove that particular effect or replace it with an the effects from the old version of PLDX

I just ran through one of my demos and yes the high-res explosions show through walls pretty consistently with the latest version as well.
Still, I’m liking some of the new effects. Any chance you might implement something which would load up custom skins & textures along with the program and then strip them off once you close it? Like it does with the particle effects? I’m too lazy to add and then remove them every time… :P

when I launch tf2 it turns the screen black, I could locate the writing section of the console by following my cursor’s changes and could play a demo. I had to navigate there “blindfolded” and it wouldn’t work properly after loading the demo either. all the effects worked tho. the problem might be on my side, but the version before this didn’t work either (after the engie update anways)

to comment the layout of the program itself; it looks tremendous(/simple!) and is user friendly. only thing that let me down was the fact it didn’t work for me.
tldr: looks great, but didn’t work for meh

the pldx tool was just so fucking good and easy to use, but this is just amazing, built in skybox and fx replacements for lazy people like me? fuck yes
though i have a question, what exactly does the option ‘Copy back default game_sound-Files when quitting TF2’ in Profile Options do? it’s a little confusing, what sound files does the pldx tool overwrite? as i have a custom hitbox soundeffect – will that be effected in any way if i tick or untick that box?
if u disable domination sounds, the game will cache the sounds so that they won’t work normally unless the default sound files are copied back
ah, cheers
