A few ideas for new HUDs

Hey,
My friend was asking me if there was a way to have sort of like the advanced spectator HUD in-game, not so you can see player health, but so you can see who’s alive and who isn’t.
My idea was to have the showscores permanently on, but edited with a crosshair and names/score discretely at the bottom of the screen, so it’s playable but handy to have there.
I’m no expert at HUDs, so I was wondering if any of the HUDmakers would try this for their new HUD, or something similar.

I also had an idea with damage text that appeared like a crosshair, over your original crosshair in another colour. That way it would be clearer to see if I’d hit someone.
For example, I shoot someone with the pistol and my crosshair flashes red for half a second.
Thought those were nice ideas for some HUDs.

Any ideas for improvement?

quake style, i like it, but i think it’s impossible to make it for tf2.

Well it’s possible to use a font to fit a crosshair, it’s just whether it’s possible to make it dissapear without the wait command.

Nice ideas Stark, hopefully someone with the expertise will look into them.

Not totally sure what you mean by the first suggestion. Perma-scoreboard has been suggested many times, if that’s what you mean, but can’t really be done for living players because showscores hides most other elements, including player health, ammo, item%, and targetID. You could make a scoreboard that’s put on the bottom of the screen with minimalized information, but doing so would remove the regular scoreboard.

The second idea couldn’t be implemented cause there’s no way to make it go back to normal (have the new crosshair disappear). Even with a script, the last damage dealt text doesn’t go away on hud_combattext 0.
