Yes, yet another fps problem

Recently something weird happened to TF2 and most of my steam games for that matter but. It seems every time I start up the game it has a low fps to begin with. This varies between 70 and 30. But when I Alt+Tab out of the game and open it again I hit my usual fps that lies around 200-250.
Has this ever happened to anyone else. Or do you know anything that could cause this. Oh after the Engineer update my game has been crashing every time i Alt+Tab. Which kind of forces me to play with low fps
Any constructive responses are welcome

no boarder windowed fixes alt tab problem (had a similar problem, since update just b4 engy update).
However i don’t have any FPS issues, on a similar rig to yours (no fps cfg)
I’ve had that ever since I bought my new computer (about 3-4 months ago), haven’t yet heard of a fix for it though. I just alt+tab out and back in every time I start up tf2 to “fix” it :P
And thanks to Tikcus for a fix for that alt+tab-crash problem (got that too after the engy update), gotta try that when I get home from work.
PS. my rig:
i5 750 @4,1Ghz
Vertex3D 5850 ( <- maybe something to do with this?)
Yea sorry Tickus, already tried the windowed mode. Not my thing. Besides, that doesn’t actually minimize the game it just puts it in the background which doesn’t “fix” the fps.
Any other possible fixes for this problem. Any string of a thought that might have to do with this.
And perhaps meppi. It could be a flaw in the driver software? Since we both got a 5850.
EDIT:
Solution found, atleast for me..
Update ATI drivers
Make sure you have AA set to application settings. There’s a drop drown box in the “All” tab in the ATI Cataclyst Center. In that box that should be set as “Box”
Good luck meppi

I think I’ve got the latest drivers, ’cause I check them rather often but I might have missed something, have to check when I get home.
Hmmh, I might have the AA set to something very different. Maybe even maxed out :D well, we’ll see when I get home.
