america has been playing better maps far longer than eu has.
indeed, why we are playing coldfront this season is beyond me :/ viaduct or yukon would have been much better.
5-3
blight won mainline 2-5 to win.

literally everyone in this thread who’s been calling US tf2 mediocre or boring is a div5 player
I wouldn’t doubt that the people in higher divisons have a lot more respect for the NA scene
in the end its a difference in playstyle, NA tf2 just isn’t focused on the demo as much. for this kind of playstyle, the typical european demo, who dishes out rapid fire stickies and tends to be aggressive, just doesn’t fit. instead a demo who plays conservatively and has strong pipe aim tends to do better
enjoy this for what it is – i’m sure sooner or later we’ll see NA and EU at a LAN
Uhm… what? Only thing i saw from solidsnake was terrible pipe aim so i don’t see where the strong pipe aim comes from.
The scenes have got a lot closer recently.
Euro soldiers are stepping it up and teams are becoming less dependent on the demoman.
US demomen are getting better and their medics are realising they can tag up with them.
^^ That all goes for the top teams at least, it’s filtered down a lot further in recent months, and hopefully it will filter down to low div 2 / 3 and the US equivilent in the near future.
Solid snake didn’t play that well at all in this tournament, so you’re right.
I also agree with acidrenix – the two blight teams that played in the final had very european demos, both of them are sticky whores and pretty aggressive.
I read that they had to play on 60 hz monitors, which is absolutely ridiculous. Playing a projectile class is far far worse on 60 hz than 125 hz. Huge dick move by ESEA to make people play TF2 on such crappy machines.

Yeah definitely agree with this. Rather than rely on one class all the time, nowadays both the euro and NA top teams just go with whatever class goes best in any particular situation; be it soldier, demo or scout.
Previously in the NA scene, the mvps for most of the top teams were soldiers (reptile for eg, seagull for blight, yaug for xen etc) save for coL who had scouts as their best players. Now you can look at a team like fanom where anyone can arguably be their mvp and are similar in skill (ww, tlr, Ruwin, Orzo all beasts).
Take a team like eMg, previously they mainly depended on mackey rjing onto the opposing medic while tyrone held the fort. In this season, yz50 has been doing the carrying while the rest of the team failed. Soldiers have been far less dominant in the NA scene despite how well harbleu and mesr did coming straight from open, and I’m sure Fragga will have something to say about that so I’ll stop.

60hz is fine what the hell are you talking about? sure 125hz is a lot better but you are seriously over exaggerating.

From what I have seen lower divs have been running aggressive soldiers for quite some time. Of course some teams rely heavily on their demo however not every team has that luxury and thus you see dominant soldiers quite a lot.

60hz sucks pretty much
play one time more then 60hz then go back to 60 hz feels like 30 fps

placebo much. :) Unless someone really struggles with playing @ 60 fps instead of 120.
If you’ve ever played with 120hz for a year or two then suddenly switch back to 60hz, its unbearable and especially if you have to play like 4hours+ a day. I dont watch many demos, but some na invite level teams are beginning to use a gunboats soldier to give the pocket more hp and I guess demo as well. As far as map choices go, I’m just glad we don’t have to play freight and well :p
