Its probably been said a million times, but a anti cheat … instead of some guys sat there deciding if someone hacks…yes an anti cheat doesn’t stop everything but even the most basic thing can stop alot things such as the client side addon abuse that was around untill recently.

If you look at other leagues for examples you will find anti-cheat clients aren’t exactly the end all to catching cheaters (See ESEA TF2 Anti Cheat Client, which barely catches anything, delays games indefinatly because the client needs to be updated and when it’s updated causes blue screens in some instances).

When games have to be delayed because the ac client doesn’t work anymore due to a TF2 update or whatever it’s annoying in league’s that have less than 50 teams in them. Scale that up to ETF2L levels and think about it now :P

Bad idea, outside of privacy issues and other things that could get in the way there are other problems.

What about people who have multiple PC’s/Laptops. I know I’ve played both on my laptop and on my PC depending on where I am sitting if I am at home or if I’m even home at all.

What exactly would you need hardware information for anyway? Check if a cheater is bandodging with the exact same hardware under a different account? IP checking makes that much easier. Besides, a virtual machine would easily circumvent any hardware check.

People will always say that X anticheat doesn’t catch much cheaters, but maybe this is also because not much people are cheating in this league because they know they would get detected by the anticheat?
Also, it all depends of the Anticheat, but some don’t need to be updated all the time so there are no delays (e.g. Aequitas).

Inb4Aequitasiscausingdelaysduetootherissues: this is true due to the fact that the coders are working on a new Anticheat which should be released soon, so they are not working on fixing Aequitas bugs any more (would just slow down the release of the new AC).

there is NO real reason against client anti cheat except cheating…

i dont quite like the idea of having software on my PC that is DESIGNED to invade my privacy, if you get what i mean.

It is possible to write software that can properly detect cheats. Problem is not a single person in this community is anywhere near capable of doing it, nor do we have enough money to pay those who do.

Aequitas/ESL Wire is a fucking joke.
