Please!

Could we have links open in new window?
Countless times i keep on closing the sites that have been linked to here on ETF2L, and then have to look up what thread I was reading.

Am I the only one who thinks this is bloody annoying?

Click with your middle mouse button for a new tab

I am aware of this functions, but since nearly every other page I visit regularly opens in new window/tab
I tend to forget :(

Right click on link, left click on open in new tab? Doesn’t need middle button :p

When you visit another page from etf2l you should have a link that opens in a new window else it should open in the same window.

Verry easy to do.

On Chrome, right click and choose the first option to open in a new tab, second to open in a new window. Firefox does the same but other way around, as does Opera, if I remember it right.
That’s how I deal with links that would take me away from where I still want to be. That also should be everything you need, since there’s no other browsers. None at all.

Or just implement the function on the page!
Saves you from browser hassle :)

Maybe i LIKE to be able to only have 1 tab open?

Think what you are saying here:

“Hey admins, could you please spend an hour or so editing the site so i don’t have to hold down shift occasionally when i click a link?”

No we dont, first of all: It dont take one hour it take like 5 minutes to do this, second of all it really should be open in a new window if you leave the site from etf2l, this should in my eyes have been done a long time ago.

I agree with the OP.
I think it would be very handy if url’s would open in a new tab.

Yeah, thats what im saying.
But like pedro said, it only takes a couple of min to fix it.

It’s not hard to implement: true. But htis exact request has come by 3 or 4 times now.
See http://etf2l.org/forum/general/topic-547/?recent=3597 and http://etf2l.org/forum/league/topic-2566/?recent=33382 for example. I know there is at least one more thread about it, but i can’t find it right now.

Anyway, the reasons why it has been like this:
– Opening a link in a new tab requires 0 extra input. (Just middle mouse or ctrl click or mouse gesture click or whatever you want)
– As Skyride pointed out, opening links in a new tab by default takes away choice. Now you can easily choose whether to open it in the same tab or in a new one, without any overhead. (see previous point)

There’s also the added effect that some IE6 users (still being used in work environments) have no tabs and thus get a lot more windows open. But then again, i don’t really want to support IE6 anymore, so that’s not much of an argument. :P
