Joining teams as Mentor

Well I thought about it, if someone were to coach a team, TF2 Mentor thingy, he could join the team, but to join the team that would mean that he would have to leave the current one – so why not make an option for a Mentor spot in the teams?
Kinda like war arranger and those stuff?
would be fun
What purpose / advantage would this “extra slot” in the teams roster serve? Just to “display” they have a mentor? Give the mentor itself more attention? Or… What? I don’t get it.

I guess so
Well, could maybe push some people to actually sign up for mentoring people as it would give a positive glow on someones profile. People taking time to teach other people stuff can’t be seen as a bad thing, and most people would do anything to be put in a positive light.
As i just re-read that, i figure my mind works in silly ways. A pointless addition to a profile, but can’t exactly hurt, can it?

exacly
But it isnt mentioned a spot in a team for playing official matches, right?
Everytime you are helping a new team you are changing the team you are mentoring in the etf2l? Nobody needs that to be honest and everytime im done with mentroing a team, im still avail for them if they need some help… so mentoring a team never really stops (for me).
And what to do with single players you are helping?
I think there are more important open points for the etf2l page than a mentor spot.
useless egoboost tbh

was just a suggestion
I’m all for helping out the mentor project, and this could be a fair way of doing so. I’m just trying to find a “bottom line” reason for actually making an suggestion to dev.
To put it into terms that we all can relate to — considering how high-impact the issue with avatars getting incorrectly fetched and injected for all users still not being highest priority, you can understand that there are quite a lot of items on the todo-list.
So, to sum it up — I was fishing for concrete massive benefits for all people involved in the ETF2L-league. Long term benefits of TF2Mentor I presume we all can agree on is such a benefit.
But from a scale from 1-10, where 10 is an item that breaks the whole function of the league and 1 is a “nice feature that would be fun and cool to have”, where do we put this…
if anyone else have a suggestion to make it more usefull do tell, was just thinking a generall way to give mentor thingy more attention
wasnt meant as offence defur, cause im supporting the mentor thingy too and would love to see more ppl helping
but the whole mentoring concept needs to be reworked imo :P
It would be handy for this site to also work as a one stop shopping place to check people’s “he’s our mentor can he spec pleez” claims. I’d have to work differently from normal teams though, with mentors being able to coach multiple teams at a time. Could be a fair bit of extra work, depending on how easily adjustable the team management code is.
Mentoring and teaching are different.
A mentor would not join in, they only give advice.
A teacher will give advice, show and lead by example.
If you want to teach, join a team.
