Why begin the S4 now?

Why begin the season now? instead of waiting a week or 2 to get the UGC playoffs to cool down a bit.
Since the UGC are using a new playoffs system: http://www.ugcleague.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2256
– Double elimination: 1 match on monday and 1 on thursday -> quite hard to find good dates for etf2l with PCW/Scrims + UGC playoffs.

Because in my honest opinion etf2l is a crappy league ran by morons.

The only league in Europe with 6v6 that actually works. The highlander sort of works.
Go play UGC if you think its so bad.

We are talking about Highlander (Hint S04). The last highlander season in etf2l ended 4 months ago.

And there is your reason. It has been a while since the last season ended and scheduling it to now makes it possible to run our 6v6 and Highlander leagues at different times.
Also, keep in mind that not everybody is playing in the UGC playoffs.

“Only” 2 div1 teams, 7 div2 teams, 3 teams in div3 in UGC plat + all the other teams in lower UGC leagues and all the people who are in a UGC roster.
I understand that you want to keep the 6vs6 and HL season separated. But can’t the both UGC and ETF2L co-exist?

You listed 12 teams out of almost 200 and thus emphasized my point. Also, this is only a third of the reasoning behind it. We try to schedule 6v6 and Highlander for different time periods and if we started the Highlander season later than now, there would have been much overlapping between 6v6 and Highlander on ETF2L.
You asked for the reasons and I provided them. Ask yourself what you are trying to achieve with this thread. We are not going to move the start of the season back as it has already started. The time to complain about the schedule was more than a month ago.
1) You can use a merc in ETF2L if necessary, if one player can’t do a day. You can use more if your opponents agrees and you have more issues.
2) You have a wildcard so you can push one week out of the way of these playoffs.
It’s flexible, and i’m not sure why ETF2L should have to fit around UGC (using a new system). Similarly, UGC shouldn’t have to fit around ETF2L either.
I guess UGC is a primary league for most highlander players, so just prioritise what you care about the most. Both modes can co-exist but I suspect a large proportion of ETF2L highlander players are 6v6 focused, and if they had to run both seasons completely in parallel most would pick 6v6 and ditch highlander. Wouldn’t be very good for ETF2L and the competition would be a bit shit.

nah, it ain’t, not for europe at least. Etf2l has more teams, and higher skilled teams too. I think the seasons start date is about as good as it could get. However, I hope etf2l will put more teams in a div in the future.

Not even close tbh. Especially counting that ugc has sort of “normal” and “let’s-play-these-weird-maps” seasons. The latter (like the current one) is really optional.
