Step from lobby > competitive

I’ve spoken to some people on lobby lately and some of them seem to think lobby is ‘the’ competitive side of tf2.
How about we make the step from lobby to etf2l a bit smaller and possibly get some partnership with the person/team of tf2lobby.com going?
I mean if you’d only put a link or a banner or a tutorial on how to join a team on etf2l and such, it might help some.
???
if valve cant move their asses and update their fucking servers so people can use them doubt they will do anything about this too

I don’t know if i’m just misunderstanding you right now but Valve isn’t the creator of tf2lobby

but tf2 lobby had somekind of servers didnt it? :D
Valve does not “sponsor” TF2Lobby with servers anymore – not since they released the Quickplay functionality. Not that it matters – letting more people create lobbies won’t raise the skill level any bit.
I believe FLOOR_MASTER – TF2Lobby’s creator and maintainer – has long since moved on from TF2, so any kind of partnership is most likely out of the question.
Or just do the simple thing and some people from etf2l go play some lobbies, seen bytes hosted a fair few lately dosent take much effort to go have a go.
All you need is a match server (with the stv turned off) and the rcon password you can host a lobby, take your 6 vs 6 team over split into two teams of three and fill the rest up with lobby folk have fun :)
Most people have mics now adays and theres a constant stream of new people trying lobbies out, would be a great place for etf2l to pick up new players.
pug.nahl has gotten a couple of people into ugc so it’s not a bad idea to have that being a “big thing” in EU
yeah name them “ETF2L.org intro” lobbies or something
I used to play a shitload of lobbies and never actually cared much about etf2l, I think 80% of the average lobby player doesn’t even know what etf2l means. I got into etf2l by meeting Skeej on some mpuktf2.pickup2 games ( never played any division in etf2l before ) and he picked me up in his div 1 team.
And I doubt if you would rename your lobbies “Etf2l.org intro lobby” it will actually get the result you wanted. Alot of more people are playing lobbies lately, but the quality has decreased. It’s gonna be real tough to get “those random lobby players” intrested in etf2l, they are probably happy where they are at now, why change it?
Go add someone and get stuff done.
If you have an idea, do something with it, don’t talk about it, or at least talk about it as you are doing something.
Go add Floor Master, or whoever is now running it and ask for promotion. Offer to donate servers as long as it has ETF2L adverts.
JUST
DO
SOMETHING
For competitive TF2, you need to be dedicated.
Lobby TF2 is pretty much the same as competitive TF2, except they don’t need to be available at a specific time, and they don’t have to find a team. For many, it’s just easier, and less hastle.
I’m sure the people who do lobby, and want to find a team, will try looking for one eventually.

No need to be rustled bro,
This was simply an idea i had and i thought i’d first ask for people’s opinions about it before taking action in what in my personal view was a good idea.
You’re acting like every second counts in this matter, this thread was purely made to ‘finetune’ the whole idea, ofcourse we have to do something for it to actually work, but that does not mean we should just blindly go ahead and do our own things without actually asking for feedback or improvements w/e.
I said that on TFPortal.de aswell. I’m pretty sure the reason why the competitive scene shrinks more and more is that new players can’t connect to the scene.
Easiest solution: TF2Lobby. A possible solution could be a TF2Lobby-Banner on the ETF2L-Page (Dunno if you could say the sites “work together” but who the hell cares anyway?) and a “Competitive section” on the bottom of TF2Lobby. Split it into EU/US and link it to ETF2L. Maybe even add the VanillaTF2.org-Youtube channel and you made a fine “connection”. Until now you can only enter the competitive play by a combination of talent and luck…

ah well.
hey this is also something that one of my friends from pug.nahl is working on
it’s in website format like lobby so new players won’t be turned off by the ugliness of IRC
and it has the option to play like a pug and have higher level games
i guess when the site is done the maker can always put etf2l banners and what not
feedback much appreciated
