– This is the place to give the admins feedback regarding the map pool and the map order in the schedule.
– Feedback on the custom maps themselves (e.g. suggestions on improvements) are to be shared in their respective threads.

I think the majority of people did not vote for obscure because it is a good map but because it’s the least bad among a whole group of awful maps (which is what I did). a 5 map pool would be better since we have 5 maps that will be definitely kept.

pointless to have a constantly switching 6th. I know some scheduling problems are present with only 5 maps but I’m sure they can be solved (doubt people would protest at 3x instead of 2x blands for example or at least they would protest less than now when they are forced to play obscure or last season when they were forced to play freight)

Alternatively if there is some huge flaw with a 5 map pool that I have not seen, I nominate cp_process, from what I have played on it its really fun, nearly finished and is already in ESEA this season so we can see if people like it or not there.

The problem is, once again, a 6 map mappool; an issue that has failed to have been addressed since last season. The only advantage of a 6 mappool is that it has more variety, an advantage that proves to be a shortcoming when it’s clear from the vast amount of whining every season that nobody can agree on 6 good maps. If the number of teams in each division remains at 8 then there is no scheduling benefit, it only works out nicer with 18 maps in a season rather than 14. Even then the tidiness of it all doesn’t really add much compared to putting people through having to play offficials (and practice) on maps they don’t enjoy.

A 5 mappool is perfect. It works perfectly for playoff eliminations, people can fight all day over which map gets the last slot (from the poll one would assume it would be a close race between obscure and gravel) and whichever map does get in can just be played 1 less time to make for a 14 map cycle. Of course there will still be whining, but there will always be whining.

It’s the best way to ensure that the most people are satisfied. Sure certain steps could be taken to make it better (like say preference ranking instead of pick 2) but at the end of the day people are going to be unhappy whenever decisions dont conform to their preference. If the admins had picked obscure as one of the two added maps with no community input, I can assure you that more hell would have been raised. And if you’re banking on admin competency to please the masses, do we not both agree that this issue could have been avoided with a better mappool number (an issue decided by admins alone)?

I’m fine with the mappool. Im glad gravelpit is in it and obscure is fine too. There aren’t alot of good maps available in comp. tf2. So besides gully, snake, bad, gran, gravel, its hard to find a descent map.

I always find a problem with the unfavourable maps is that people won’t play them until they have to, usually the week of the official. Can be frustrating for a team who actually does want to try out some tactics and work on things. Surely you get better quality matches when teams have actually practised?

As usual, this may have been the majority, but then – that makes 50.3% who didn’t vote for Obscure, and even more with Gpit.

I don’t think the issue is necessarily the extra map – but it’s just right now there’s nothing to fill it. We’re seeing old maps voted back in, which have been played for one (or more) season(s) before and were evidently dropped for a reason. They’ve been tried and tested, so why not take this season to try and test a 5-map system?

Any new map would have been nice….

I prefer a mappool of 6 maps, problem with that 6th map is that people would rather vote for maps tried and rejected in the past (e.g. freight and obscure) over maps who’ve made a favorable first impression in cups/pcws but haven’t been played in a league yet (e.g. foundry)

Let’s keep the spirit of having the whole community decide and put a poll on the frontpage with 2 choices:

“keep the 6 map pool including obscure”
“change to a 5 map pool, dropping obscure”

Surely the map in question would be gravel pit? As (somehow) obscure actually got more votes.

If the 5 pool were to be considered, I think a vote over gravel/obs would be appropriate as a different result may be chosen (as there’s no splitting of votes on maps that are not even in contention).

You should remove obscure and replace it with turbine for prem/div1.
