http://etf2l.org/matches/28266This match is a classic example of a recurring problem on ETF2L: (usually) Russian teams that can only play at times that are completely out of the ordinary and are unacceptable for most European teams, which are used to playing at ~21CET.

Ultimately, this league is designed to cater to European players, and that should be the group that takes preference. I think we can all agree that the usual limits of tolerability for match scheduling are from around 20CET (although maybe this is still too early for some) up to 21:30CET. This timescale fits the demographic that ETF2L is aiming to serve, and as such these times should be enforced as the acceptable match hours.

I propose adding the following rule to that effect:

Unless both teams agree otherwise, accepted match hours are between 20 – 21:30 CET. If one team cannot play between these hours, but the other team can only play between them, then a default win is awarded to the team that can play within the accepted match hours.

In my opinion this is a reasonable rule, and one which should prevent such problems from reoccurring. It also shouldn’t cause issues with default hunters, as the default only ever takes effect if one team can only play at times which are unreasonable for most European teams.

Also, one thing I notice is that Russian teams are spread out amongst the groups, especially in division 6. Wouldn’t it be better in future to put as many Russian teams as possible into the same groups?

We will never set a default date to a time before 20.00 unless both teams are from GMT + 3 or higher or one team did not bother at all to schedule so it should not really be an issue.
One more problem is that Russia will not switch to winter time this year so instead of CET + 2 they will be in CET + 3 :/

20:30 to 21:30 is a bit tight. Adding another 30 mins before or after that might make it more accommodating. Otherwise, I agree with the rule.

Example of a sporting Russian team: Our http://etf2l.org/matches/27618official against LMS was organised for 21:15 cest, and actually ended up starting 15 minutes late due to one of our players disappearing. LMS allowed us to use a merc, and waited patiently. The game ended around 22:40, which I believe is 00:40 in Moscow. On a sunday night!

Be more like these Russians, other Russians!
