(no im not baiting here :D)
Would be funny as hell to see everyone try to counter all of the unlocks – shitstorms included! :D:D
ppl would just use default unlocks and on srs games but against weaker opponents everyone would just fool around with huntsman
just how it happens in na

what if it there was a restriction to use unlocks on every weapon? ;D
sounds like pub

yessss? ;D…
I was thinking that it would be fun to play and watch a experimental cup that would have all restrictions off. So teams can have as many demomen, heavies or unlock madness they can think of.
It should be quite refreshing really because teams wouldn’t have thought like this before and won’t really know what works well and what doesn’t so there’s no risk of the same strategies. Plus aren’t you curious whether a team of demoknights can beat a team of gunslinger engys :D
Could call it something like the ‘good-examples-on-why-we-don’t-allow-some-of-these things…’ cup

2 medics and 4 demos = win
Imagine trying to push through a carpet of 32 stickies!!!!
Was planning on hosting something similar in the next few months, but I’d much rather someone else (like ETF2L) do it.
Figured while there is all this negativity surrounding the unlocks, it would still be fun as hell to compete / watch games where every unlock can be used, regardless of ‘imbalances’, and just see what winning combination ultimately wins the cup.
Class limits would need to stand, might even be worth setting scout limit 2, soldier limit 2, everything else set to 1.
The best thing about the cup would be that the people who don’t want to play with unlocks, simply do not need to enter. That leaves us with a cup of teams that want to enjoy it, and hopefully there will be less complaining.
Oh and I imagine some teams will just use a default setup, with anything else that is a straight up upgrade to their class (equaliser etc..), but the default setup isn’t what it is for no reason. It’s generally considered the strongest setup for a typical 6v6 game, and it is the best setup on average over all maps.
However, start to throw in some Milkman set scouts, Direct hit, Heavy with gloves of steel, whipping stick etc… and your opponent would probably need to mix a few things up themselves.
Lastly (sorry for tripple post), would be interesting to see the number of spectators on STV and on a stream for this kind of cup. See if the general public is interested in watching this kind of game.
would be interesting to see. acid has some good points, but if you restricted every standard 6v6 weapon except the medic ones?
so that it is a Pure unlocks cup.
i dont know if having same classes is even necessary, i mean if you want to test the largest amount of unlocks possible, then setting the class limit to one could do that for you. Or alternatively you could do it so that both of the soldiers need completely different setups and both of the scouts need completely different setups.
sounds quite cool though, would make a change :D
I did a similar cup http://www.esportsheaven.net/?page=tournament&action=view&tournament_id=317
Main practical problem: no one will use 99% of unlocks, because they are made for public fun.
Hmm I’d enjoy such a cup.
Maybe even flip it on it’s head – vanilla items are banned, only unlocks can be used :D
Medic exempt? Demo too?
Edit: Oh sketch already said that ^___^
since etf2l is proven to not give a shit what players want, just have next season with this ruleset
:DD nice admin edit, bros, u get even more respect with that
