TF2 doesn't work.

Yo guys
My non-comp friend has a problem with starting TF2.
He didn’t do anything with it,and when he had got up, he pressed play TF2 and it wrote “Programme hl2.exe has stopped working.” That’s all, reinstalling didn’t help.
Thanks for any feedback, I appreciate it.
Is he participating in Steam Beta, if yes, tell him to opt out? Did he try to delete his HUD (if he’s using Custom one) and did he try to Verify Tf2?
