So i found a link on teamfortress.tv to a 2011! article
http://www.toptiertactics.com/5965/team-fortress-2-optimization-and-insanity/
Basically the author tells us that he gets more fps with the Chris Maxquality config, and less with the maxframes one.
Any thoughts on this?

Sometimes Graphics card can’t support Low textures, it puts too much pressure on them to Lower textures to Minecraft level, so a graphics card that was made for High textures will give more fps if using High graphics.

That’s what i heard at least in some forum long time ago, but i can’t say it’s true or not

Maxframes is dx8 and everything else is DirectX 9. The graphics pipeline has change a lot since then and DirectX 8 doesn’t seem to be supported that well anymore. Additionally dx9 seems to be better optimized in the source engine.

Maxframes isn’t that good for fps anyway compared to m0re highfps.

Can’t explain it, but it works. Try it if you’re sceptical.

I tested it a while back an m0re’s highframes gave me about 10fps more than chris’ highframes. Doesn’t really matter for me as I get enough fps already but it could be interesting to someone who gets low fps.

The difference is much more striking if your FPS was shit before. :p

I got the one I use here – http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/437678-team-fortress-2/53044464

thanks Solid/Cuttlefish.

seems outdated, though :< (for example it has -heapsize in it, which isn't used anymore.)

It is really outdated but that doesn’t stop it from giving me better fps than chris’ updated version
