I found this on ATF2L: http://atf2l.org/media/file/38-clean-fortress/

Has anyone ever tried it? The provided Screenshots are not very telling imho and it has questionable legality.

Just wondering if it is “known” and maybe someone can share experience.

Doesn’t this break most sneaky sticky traps? They have removed a shit load of hiding spots already after the badlands tweaks, now if you remove the foliage and rocks in the map it loses the feeling of badlands, a generally rocky map. I’d prefer to play original badlands over the modified one, I didn’t look into other maps (I don’t know if there are any).

It’s cleaner, but I don’t see the point of it, considering the maps are clean enough, unless you are playing with dx9 high settings.

does’nt that mean you can remove walls? or barrels behind which ppl often hide? seems like a horrible idea… hope valve fixes that precache bug

Tried it a while ago back, pretty gimmicky. It negates some common hiding spots/sticky traps like bushes or clipping rocks, but once you’ve played the game for a while you know all those spots anyway so it’s pretty irrelevant. The soundscapes files are nice though, as someone who plays with high volume. Removes a lot of ambient whirring and other noises.

Are you referring to exes not being fishy?

Also, on the topic. I looked at the pictures, it just seems like a few console commands.
Is there something else in it than just low graphic settings?

Just because something is a .exe it doesn’t mean it’s by definition dodgy. Surely you can tell the difference between a random download from an advertisement and a project from a community member?

Try making a stand-alone windows application that does not contain a .exe, I dare ya.

When I play TF2, a file called hl2.exe makes it crash sometimes. I don’t trust .exe files either because of this.

On topic: Exploiting a bug to disable hiding spots and sneaky stickies? No thanks. Besides, I like a bit visual clutter for aesthetic purposes. It’s simple and scarce enough in TF2 to not interfere with seeing enemy players that are meant to be seen.

When Casual introduced his way to play with fov130 after the “fix” everyone shit their pants because it was an .exe
Heh good times. As i remember that was the backbone of arguments against it.
