Need Help with Steam Overlay

My Steam Overlay isn’t working anymore.
I tried switching the hotkey, both “enable steam community in-game” are ticked and I restarted Steam multiple times.
Everytime I want to join somebody from my friendslist/ chat with someone, I have to alt+tab out :(
Unfortunately, it tends to bug out quite often, especially after you lose connection to Steam. It regains connection after some time, so does the overlay, but there is nothing you personally can do I’m afraid.
