I get nearly 2 times as much fps without the launch option, mat_supports_d3d9ex “1” and mat_disable_d3d9ex “0” than i get with the launch option, mat_supports_d3d9ex “0” and mat_disable_d3d9ex “1”
Chris dx81 Maxframes, mumble and steam overlay disabled, looked at the same spot with the same weapon in my hands, tested several times.

Do timedemo “demoname” to test fps.

I have same fps with

mat_supports_d3d9ex 1
mat_disable_d3d9ex 0

and

mat_supports_d3d9ex 0
mat_disable_d3d9ex 1

Timedemos provide different results, generally with d3d9ex on demos play faster than without it.

Playdemo with fraps might be more accurate.

-nod3d9x is the launch option. It affects those cvars.
