i would like to play with a lower resolution on tf2 , but whenever i try to change from 1680*1050 to a lower 16/10 resolution, black strips appears around the image and/or the image is not centered.
Also, i would like to play on windowed mode in my laptop, but it seems that the game is waaaay less responsive, and it feels like i have mouse lag. i asked a lot of people around me but they never encountered this issue.
does someone know how to fix these issues ?
thanks
Do you have accel on your laptop? The black bars on your PC are probably something set in your Catalyst Control Center or your nVidia tuner thing.
window mode mouse lag is common everyone have it, Lower Resolution in Tf2 is GPU scaling you can enable it in Catalyst Control Center If you have ATI Nvidia got no idea :)
Yeah if you run ATi you can enable it, it just probably won’t work. xxxxxD Buy Nvidia if you want working drivers. With Nvidia you just go to the drivers and click on Adjust desktop size and position and select which kind of gpu scaling you want from there.

Posted on another thread, this helped me:

Since you’re running tf2 in windowed mode and you’re probably using w7, i’d recomend disabling the aero thingy when running tf2. It causes fps and mouse issues for some people (me included) but it can be easily fixed by going to your “team fortress 2” folder (not tf), right-clicking on the hl2.exe, Properties, compatibility and check “disable visual themes” and “disable desktop compositing” and hit ok. (Note that they might be different since my windows is in portuguese, i just attempted to translate). That might work
edit: I also checked the option to run in compatibility mode for windows xp (sp3), but i don’t really know if that helps me more than the other 2 do
thx everyone i have at least solved the resolution problem
it’s not perfectly matchin but at least the image is centered now
