But on midfights my fps drops to 10-20.
I remember you telling Phroz3n it was something to do with the GPU, but I have an nVidia GTX 260, so I don’t think it’s that.
Any ideas?

Not really, the performance difference is pretty much nothing, and if you are using dx9 over dx8 I guess you are a graphics faggot :D

That’s what I get for posting at 3am I guess.
I don’t think timedemos from 32-man pubs are really good for fps comparison, I got pretty much the same fps all maxed and with maxframes when I once did that. In 6v6 however the fps difference is absolutely massive. I assume it has to do with fps configs doing little to increase my fps on pubs tho, for whatever reason.
E: weather effects off does make any map with snow/rain clearer, even if the fps difference is negligible.

Running TF2 in dx9 occasionally freezes my whole PC with audio loop. :(
Does anyone remember what the differences between the old quality configs for ATI and nvidia were since I don’t remember freezing with the ATI config?

no old config will work since either it wont have threading enabled or it will crash for some reason
either its the chris cfg or i suspect some part of gpu overheating aswell, cuz when it crashes, windows reports graphics driver crash… most of ppl dont have issues aswell
